His hand caresses my cheek. “First of many.” His lips press against mine.

“Thank you, Hunter, for today and the ornament. I’m sorry for how I acted. This, being here with you, is the perfect Christmas.”

His arms wrap around me, holding me close. “I’m glad you’re enjoying it. And I promise, it only gets better.”

“What do you mean? How is that even possible?” There’s a mischievous smile on his lips. “Hunter, what did you do?”

“Nothing.” His face turns serious, trying to hide the smile he can’t stop from reaching his eyes.

“Hunter Adams, if you don’t tell me what you’re up to….”

“You’ll what?” he taunts me.

“I won’t finish what we started earlier.”

Hunter laughs. “That’s your loss as much as it is mine.”

He’s got me there.

“Come on, let’s finish this tree. Then we can have some fun under it.”

CHAPTER10

HUNTER

Snow.

How did I not know she had never seen snow? All she had to do was say the word, and I could have rectified that.

The question is—how can I make it happen now?

Money may not buy happiness, but it sure as hell can buy something to make her happy.

“Where are you going?” she asks as I grab my phone and head toward my office.

“I have to make a call. I’ll be right back.” Closing the door behind me, I dial Zack, a friend from college. He was the guy who knew everyone and could get you whatever you wanted. A great guy to have in your corner. Still is.

“Hey, Hunt, what’s up?”

“Merry Christmas, man. How are you? How’s the family?”

“Right as rain. Couldn’t be happier.”

“Listen, I hate to bother you with it so close to Christmas, but I need a favor.”

“Name it.”

I tell him my dilemma—the trip, Quinn, the snow.

He laughs. “You’re not going to believe this—”

With Zack? Just about anything is possible.

“I probably will.”

“I actually have one. Needed it for my daughter’s play last weekend.”

It’s like a Christmas miracle—something I truly believe in.
