“Be safe. Things are still good.”

I smirked.

I headed back, parking my car and heading up to the room with the case in hand. Once I was inside, I gave everyone the rundown.

Malachi nodded and took his exit. He was heading to confront Charlotte since disappearing. He was going under the guise of begging for forgiveness. There was no doubt she would accept his apology. He was her top favorite. But Charlotte was never one to be underestimated. And with my show from earlier, I had reason to believe she might take everything out on him just to prove a point to me and Dallas. Charlotte was also a despicable person who showed mercy very seldomly. Despite Malachi being one of her favorites, I sincerely doubted she would take his error lightly. Even if she didn’t apply my insolence to him.

As my best friend stepped through the doorway and into the hall, I hoped it wasn’t the last time I would see him.

“Be careful,” I said.

He met my gaze with a firm nod. “You do the same.”

And those had better not be our last words.

Dallas clapped his hands. “I suppose I should go do what I do best.”

I huffed. “Stay close. I have an unsettling feeling.”

“Will do,” he said and then left.

Cassidy sat on the edge of the bed and eyed the case. “Is that what I think that is?”

I nodded. “Yes. But I don’t want to talk about this.”

She smiled and I almost lost the ability to breathe. “What do you want to talk about then?”

I set the case on the table and turned to face her. “Who said anything about talking?”

I almost stopped breathing with the way she smiled at me. Her eyes glimmered, sparkling like stars in the sky.

I would do anything for her.

CASSIDY

The way he spoke those last words had sent chills up my spine. I bit my bottom lip and watched as his smoldering emerald gaze drew closer. He lowered his face to mine and gently brushed my lips with his.

Slowly, he deepened the kiss, pressing more of his weight on me, gently urging me to lay back on the bed. I gave in, falling into his kiss, and the way his touch ignited my skin.

Our kissing deepened even more and just as things started to get heated, he pulled away and gasped for breath.

“Sorry,” he murmured.

“For what?” I asked, staring at his face, searching for any reason for him to apologize.

“Throwing myself at you,” he said with a smirk. The weight of his green eyes nearly made me squirm.

I smiled. “Don’t be ridiculous. You haven’t done anything wrong.”

“Good because, I just can’t help myself,” he said.

“Then don’t,” I whispered.

His smile widened as he slid a hand to the back of my head. As his fingers tightened around my locks, I gasped, and my eyes rolled into the back of my head. I angled my head backward, giving into the tug of his hand and his lips brushed along the skin of my neck.

Warmth pooled between my legs as my arousal spiked higher. I clutched Steele’s arm in one hand and gripped a fistful of his shirt in my other hand while he continued to kiss my neck before slowly returning to my mouth.
