He took my hand into his. “You’re worth every ounce of danger if it will help you be free.”
“What do you guys think?” I asked, facing Steele and Dallas.
“It’s worth a shot,” Steele added.
“I agree. If this is how we end everything, I say we do it,” Dallas said.
I let out a sigh and nodded. “Okay then.”
Steele nodded and sent a text to his friend. While we waited for a response, I stood up and gathered up a fresh change of clothes.
“Do you have to do that?” Malachi asked. “I prefer you naked.”
I chuckled. “Naked doesn’t get things done.”
Dallas snorted. “Says you.”
“Okay it doesn’t get the necessary things done,” I corrected myself.
“Who says sex isn’t necessary?” Steele asked.
I shook my head and stepped into the bathroom. Once I shut and locked the door, because I wouldn’t have put it past any of them to try and take advantage of the opportunity, I let out the bathwater and poured the rest of the bottle of Moscato down the drain before getting dressed.
Once I was fully clothed in comfortable clothes, I left the bathroom.
“Any word yet?” I asked.
Steele nodded. “He’ll do it. I’ll meet him in an hour.”
I nodded and let out a deep breath. Soon, Charlotte will be out of the picture. The only other person to worry about is Xander.
One almost down. And there was still a long way to go.

STEELE
About an hour after agreeing to meet, Spence had messaged me with a location. The time he wanted to me was within half an hour.
I had just enough time to get there. So, I hopped into my car and headed toward the location south of the town. The spot was a lookout area right off the side of a highway. The place was secluded enough that no one else would be around, but we were out in the open enough that we could see anyone approaching.
It was too far out of the way for Charlotte or any of her spies to follow. And that meant I could talk about the plan without fear of someone overhearing who shouldn’t have.
Almost thirty minutes later, I pulled off to the side of the road, pulling along the small horseshoe-shaped drive. Once I put the car into park, I turned off the engine and set my gaze over the area around me. There was no sign of Spencer yet.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and sent Cassidy a message, letting her know I had made it in one piece.
“Made it. Stay safe.”
Less than a minute later, she responded. “Good. Stay safe, too.”
I smirked. Her insistence that I stay safe was sweet, albeit unnecessary. She was the fragile member of our group and needed to be careful and safe more than the rest of us. She was fierce though. In many more ways than I could count. And I admired her for everything that she was and everything that she saw me for.
Life was going to suck more than ever if she chose someone else.
But I would respect her decision, but probably not at first. With every moment that passed with her in my life, I fell a little more in love with her. The idea of living without her made my stomach churn and knot.
Within minutes of sitting in the driver’s seat of my vehicle, another vehicle pulled up behind me and parked. I recognized the ridiculous pompadour hairdo the second it poked out from the top of the car door as my friend, climbed out.
