The way Dallas kissed me completely blew me away. And with the romantic air of staring up at the stars… everything just felt too perfect. These were the kinds of moments I dreamed of. And Dallas was giving it to me.

But I wasn’t sure if now was the right time for sex. Which was what this would have turned into if I let him keep kissing me.

So, I pulled away and smiled at him.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

I shook my head. “Absolutely nothing.”

“Then why did you pull away from me,” he asked with a devilish grin.

“I’m not sure now is the right time for all of this,” I said.

“It was just a kiss,” he said, pulling me closer to him.

Small critters scurried through the underbrush that surrounded us, pulling on my attention. I looked around for what they were, but I couldn’t move very much thanks to Dallas keeping me pinned to him. I sighed.

“I know it was ‘just a kiss,’ Dallas,” I said. “But I know this game very well. It always starts out with ‘just a kiss.’”

He chuckled. Then rolled on top of me. His warmth encompassed me, and I sucked in a breath as my arousal spiked even higher. His growing erection pressed into my sex, making my mind spin.

“Mm-hmm,” he murmured. “Tell me again how this isn’t the right time?”

I knew he could smell my arousal. Once I learned about shifters, I had a talk with Gemma to find out all that I could. She told me shifters can smell scents and hormones like regular animals. That’s how they know when the person they are with is ready for sex.

I shuddered underneath Dallas. The cold air contrasted with the warmth of his body and the sensations danced along my skin and delighted my nerves.

“What if someone finds us?” I asked, reaching for excuses. “Like Charlotte.”

He shrugged. “Charlotte is busy with the nightclub. And she doesn’t care for the cold. She’s a bit prissy like that.”

“What about Malachi or Steele?” I asked.

He chuckled. “Let them watch.”

“Xander?” I asked.

“Maybe he will learn a thing or two about how to properly treat his woman,” he said and rubbed the tip of his nose against mine.

I laughed.

There was something about Dallas that helped me to relax and forget about my problems for a little while. He was charming, and he could make me laugh, which I absolutely adored. And though I would never admit to it out loud, I was starting to get scared walking alone. My fear was worse when he started messing with me, but as soon as I realized it was him, I felt instant relief.

He stared deep into my eyes before they took in my mouth. I smirked and pressed my lips against his.

He sucked in a breath and deepened the kiss, making me dizzy, and sending my hormones skyrocketing. He made it so easy to fall for his charms. So, I told myself, “Screw it,” and gave in.

Dallas continued to kiss me for several minutes and when he finally pulled away from my mouth, I sucked in a breath of icy air.

“I can’t get enough of your kiss,” he said.

“I know the feeling,” I said.

He smiled at me. “I can’t get enough of you either.”

I smiled. “Really?”

He nodded and placed a peck on my lips before planting kisses along my jawline, and then continuing down to my neck. I clutched his shirt in my fists and my eyes rolled into the back of my head as he settled on the sweet spot just beneath my ear. My hands slid up the cloth covering his back, fingers brushing along the hills of muscles until I reached his hair and then the tips raked through his silky waves.
