“It means that you are a hypocrite,” Steele said stepping closer.

“Is that so?” Malachi asked, moving until he stood nose to nose with Steele. His voice was dangerously low.

Bits of static entered the air and thickened it, making it hotter and hard to breathe. I didn’t know what that was about, and I also didn’t care to ask. The men getting into an argument wasn’t going to make anything better.

“Stop,” I said.

“I think you know exactly what I’m referring to,” Steele said.

“Why don’t you spell it out for me since I’m too stupid to figure it out,” Malachi retorted.

I sighed. “Stop, please.”

Dallas stepped forward, pushing his way between the two of them. “As much as I would love to see who would win in a match between the two of you, Cassidy has a point. It’s not going to help matters getting into a fight in the middle of the room.”

“That’s not why I wanted them to stop,” I said. “But that works too.”

Dallas winked at me. I huffed a sigh as my knees damn near buckled on me.

I leaned against the chest of drawers, using it to keep me up on my feet.

“Where were you the past couple of days anyway?” Steele asked.

“Thinking,” he said. “About how to be with Cassidy.”

“What gives you the right to swoop in and take her from us?” Dallas asked. “You’re despicable.”

Malachi chuckled under his breath. “Last I checked, she wasn’t property to be owned.”

“That’s rich, coming from you,” Steele said. “I don’t know what’s worse. The fact that you slept with her, putting her life at risk, or the fact that you honestly thought you could go behind our backs and mate with her.”

“Oh Jesus,” I muttered. “

Though there was plenty to unpack in his accusation against Malachi, it seemed even he understood that Xander wasn’t one to trifle with. It was nice that he actually made the connection, and I didn’t have to over explain anything.

Still, none of that gave them the right to break into a verbal fight in the middle of my hotel room.

Dallas chimed in and the three of them started arguing among themselves.

“I’m the best choice for her,” Malachi said.

“And what makes you so much better than me?” Steele asked.

“You are both wrong,” Dallas said.

I groaned, closing my eyes. The men were arguing over me like I was some piece of meat. What was it with me and men? Why did they always have to get so damned possessive?

“Look,” I said. “I don’t have time for this. I’m leaving.”

“No, you’re not,” the three of them said at once.

I glared at them. Though I knew better than to leave while they were bickering amongst themselves, it was still tempting.

Their argument grew louder and more intense and I became worried their antics would show up like a beacon on Xander’s radar, practically begging him to come back. Not only that, but they were fighting over who I should be with and who the better man was, which only made things far worse.

More static filled the air, and I could have sworn I could see tiny bursts of energy exploding like mini balls of fireworks.

I sucked in a breath and wondered if I was losing my mind. Did Xander finally manage to break me? Or did it take these three men to finally push me over the edge?
