Philit opened, looking inside first before letting us in. Inside was massive, and I knew it blew the guys away, but I was too exhausted to care. I spotted the massive bed by the floor-to-ceiling windows and directly went for it, needing to put my aching head down and get some much needed rest.

I did just that as the others looked around, seeing their first Fae-decorated bedroom. It was definitely worth looking at. I’d probably done it too when I’d woken up, after I got about two days of sleep.

The sunlight woke me up first. I didn’t remember much after crawling into bed and falling asleep. I slept so hard I didn’t even dream, at least nothing I could remember.

As my conscious mind crawled back out of sleep-mode, I rolled into the heat surrounding me completely. I hit something hard, but it felt so comfortable and so right that I pressed into it. A low groan responded to my touch, and I realized I was curled up against Philit. Someone moved behind me, pressing against my back and putting their arm around my waist.

Landers.

And I had a feeling that while I couldn’t see him, Zilon wasn’t far off either.

“Morning,” Philit said. “I never thought I’d wake up with you in my arms.”

I frowned at that. “What do you mean?”

He leaned down and kissed my forehead. “Just that. This wasn’t what I thought my life would be like, and I never really understood what I was missing until you were gone and out of reach. I had no idea where you were. I nearly burned all the forests in the world down to find you.”

“Oh, so you only missed me after I was gone,” I asked, trying to feign irritation.

“Simply realizing what I was losing when you were no longer nearby.” He sighed and looked up at the ceiling, still softly speaking, his voice a bit slurred with sleep. It was like we were in a little bubble, just him and me. “I had this idea of what I wanted my life to be. To go the academy, find my mate, train, and fight for my loved ones. Then, I met you before I even began that journey, and all my plans were tossed in the air. I tried to catch them, to recenter myself, but you kept pulling at me, drawing my attention and holding onto it. And even when we mated, I was still stubborn. Up until you were no longer there with me, I was being stubborn. I don’t want that to happen again.”

He squeezed me tighter against him, not caring that Landers was right against me. Landers only moved closer with a small moan, as he was unwilling to give me any space. It was kind of sweet.

“It’s been go-go-go since we met. We haven’t had any time together. We’re feeling this mate bond so strongly, but we haven’t had a solid block of time to explore it,” I said. “And that makes it so confusing. Once this is over, let’s fly to some abandoned island, take it over and just stay there for a few months.”

“You want to run away?” Humor laced his question.

“Vacation. Let’s take a long vacation. Maybe on an island with an active volcano so people will stay away. If it erupts, we’ll just fly off.”

That got him chuckling. “Not a bad plan. Once this is over, we’ll all go somewhere. Take the time to figure out our own shit.”

I liked that. I leaned up and kissed him, enjoying the tenderness of his lips as he claimed mine. There was a lot of hope and reassurance in our kissing, and I moved closer to him, using my hand to explore the hard planes of his chest, down lower and lower until I cupped his cock. It pulsed under my touch and hardened. I stroked him a couple of times, loving how he jerked at my explorations.

“Too early for this,” Landers moaned, sitting up and blinking down at us. “Unless we’re going further?”

I giggled and shook my head, letting go of Philit, ignoring the way he moaned in disappointment. “People here are early risers. And privacy isn’t a thing.”

As if to prove my point, our door opened, and Aylia came bounding in with a bag of clothes. She tossed the bag on the bed, not caring that it hit a still-sleeping Zilon.

“Time to go!” she said a bit too cheerily. “I got permission to take you to the training yard. We can see what you’re all about.”

“I think you're more excited about this than I am,” I said to her a bit bitterly.

“When it comes to experiments, nothing can stop her.” Kilven was in the doorway, hands crossed over his chest as he glowered at my mates.

“Either way, get ready. I brought fresh clothes. It was hard to find anything for your mates since they’re the only dragons here, but I’m sure we can make it work. I brought a sewing kit.” She held up a small box filled with supplies.

“Great,” I said and tried to pull away, but Philit only held me against him more tightly, raising the blanket, so it was comfortably around my shoulders.

I raised an eyebrow at him.

“The male needs to get out of here,” he growled out, his sharp gaze slicing to Kilven. “No other man gets to see your body.”

“I’m not leaving Aylia with you guys,” Kilven said.

“They won’t hurt me,” Aylia snapped at him. “Wait outside and give her privacy.”
