Theo slowly releases me and rolls to his back. I dart out of bed like it were on fire, and I need to escape it before being burned. I make it to the bathroom, all but slamming the door behind me. I press myself against the barrier now between the two of us and take a breath.

God, what’s wrong with me? Why can’t I be more confident?

Shaking my head, I go about my business, wash my hands and face before brushing my teeth. I prolong being in the bathroom as long as I can while coming up with a plan to avoid Theo.

Finishing up, I place my toothbrush in the holder and take a deep breath as I step over to the door. With a shaky hand, I open the door. I don’t look over to the bed. Instead, I move to the closet, hoping to maybe change clothes and get out of there. Maybe he went back to sleep, and I won’t have to talk to him.

My plans are foiled when Theo wraps his arms around me before I can get to the closet door.

“You want to tell me what’s going on in that pretty head of yours,” he murmurs, pulling me back until I’m flush against his front.

“Let go,” I whisper, reaching up to grasp his arm and tug.

“You know that isn’t going to happen, Snowflake,” he says, and I’m sure he’s doing it with a smirk. “Now talk to me.”

Something about the demanding tone he takes on with those simple four words is like a vice clenching at my chest and tightening.

“You mean like you talk to me?” I mutter sarcastically and tug on his arm again. “Let me go, Theo.”

Instead of letting go or even responding, he spins me in his arms, tosses me over his shoulder, and carries me the short distance to the bed. I find myself being thrown through the air, then bouncing on the soft mattress I share with Theo.

I barely recover from my surprise before Theo’s large form straddles my smaller one. His muscular thighs encase my thinner ones, and his impeccable chest leans into mine as he leans forward.

“Now, Snowflake, you want to explain your attitude,” he demands gruffly.

“I shouldn’t have to do anything,” I snap, shaking my head in denial. I’m sure he knows what’s going on between us. I mean, her perfume is on him.

“Blake.” The sound of my name on his lips sends a shiver down my spine. Not because of him saying it, but the icy tone he takes on. “I’m not playing games with you, baby. Tell me what’s in that head of yours, and we’ll move on to why the fuck I found you in your office sleeping.”

I shake my head, not wanting to answer him. If he can’t figure it out, then he doesn’t need me to tell him. It’s bad enough he doesn’t realize he’s hurting me emotionally with the way he’s treated me this past week.

“You know I can get answers out of you,” he remarks and braces himself up with one arm while reaching up to stroke the side of my face with the other. “Talk to me, Snowflake.”

“Let me go,” I murmur again.

“Told you I’m never letting you go, baby, and I fucking meant it.” His eyes lock on mine, penetrating through something inside me.

Pressing into his chest, I push against him, though he doesn’t budge. “Then why do you smell like another woman?”

Theo gets this look as if I’d struck him before clenching his teeth. “Is this what you’re pissed about? Me smelling like another woman? I thought you trusted me?” He bolts upright and starts pacing.

I sit up and come to my feet as well. “What do you expect me to think, Theo? Your ex shows up out of the blue. You start avoiding me. When you come to bed—it’s with another woman’s perfume on you. And you’re meeting that said woman in the kitchen while she’s practically wearing nothing.”

“I expect you to ask me straight up,” he snarls, glaring at me. “If you saw her and me in the kitchen together, you should have made your presence known. Better yet, your ass shouldn’t have left our goddamn bed. Then I wouldn’t have run into Gillian in the kitchen while looking for you.”

“Right,” I sneer, crossing my arms over my chest, and I don’t miss the way Theo’s eyes drop to check out my breast. “Just like you could have easily not avoided me all week while being around your ex, who I might add is gorgeous. Way prettier than I am.”

“She in no way compares to you, Blake.” Theo’s eyes flash, and a moment later, he’s on me, his hands stripping me of my clothes faster than ever.

His cock slips between my lower lips, and then he’s inside me.

“Theo,” I cry out at the way he thrust deeply into me with harsh strokes.

“You think I want someone else,” he snaps, holding himself over me while plowing into me with forceful thrusts. “You got it fucking wrong, Snowflake. No one can. Not Gillian, not any other woman compares to you. You’re my heart woman, and I’m not going to have you saying shit like that.” He’s relentless as he fucks me deeply while he continues to look at me.

My breathing picks up, and my body responds without question to his words. Release is right in front of me, and I shudder as it hits me full force.

Screaming his name, I arch into him. Theo doesn’t stop. He keeps his movements going. If anything, he picks up the pace and growls. His cock twitches as he comes, spurting inside me like he’s done many times before, but this time it seems different. I just don’t know why.
