Ashley covertly looked over her shoulder and huffed out a laugh. “He looks like he could be one of Luca’s cousins or something.” Her back straightened, and she turned to me wide-eyed. “Mexico,” she hissed.

“What?” I frowned, trying to remember the infamous trip where my blood was about fifty percent tequila the whole time.

She huffed out a laugh. “You really don’t remember that first night? Your whole getting over Luca by getting under well . . .” She gestured to the back of the bar, where the man was no longer standing.

“He’s gone.” Adriana pouted. “Did he really look like Luca?”

“Oh yeah. I thought Luca had followed us to the resort,” Sarah chimed in, stealing a bite from my plate.

“Now I regret not staying out with you guys.”

I stared at the Judas Priest poster on the wall and wished I could have a do-over of that trip. Nothing says rock bottom like sleeping with your ex’s doppelgänger and calling out his name during sex. The guy probably caught sight of me and booked it out of the bar, not wanting to run into the one-night stand from hell.

Sarah rested a hand on my arm. “What did Aunt Maggie say?”

“I haven’t told her yet. We’re having dinner with them tonight, so I figured we’d do it in person. I imagine she’ll spontaneously explode from joy, which will be unfortunate because she’ll miss out on all those grandbabies she’s been demanding.”

Everyone froze, and their heads jerked in my direction. The cacophony of “You’re pregnant?” “Wait!” and “What?” drew the attention of the surrounding tables yet again.

“I’m not pregnant.” I picked up my fresh Bloody Mary and gestured toward my friends and the onlookers, repeating, “I’m not pregnant.” As proof, I took a big sip, the pickle and bacon garnish sliding into my nose. “See?”

The whole table relaxed and took a drink of their own.

“I was about to say—” Ashley put her hand over her heart. “That would really mess up the bachelorette weekend.”

“I’m glad to see you have your priorities straight.”

“I know you well enough to know that if it were up to you, there would be no wedding, just an elopement and a party after. The bachelorette is one of the selling points.”

“Guilty.”

“But you’re excited. You want to do this. Right?”

I gazed down at the ring. “I do.” Lifting my eyes, I smiled. “He’s it.”

“Then it sounds like we have a wedding to plan.” Ashley lifted her glass to the middle of the table. “To Sasha and Luca!”

“To Sasha and Luca!”

“Stop checking your phone.”

I raised an eyebrow and glanced at Luca’s phone in his hand. “I’m sorry. What did you say, Mr. Pot? I don’t think I heard you right.”

He slid his phone into his pocket, giving me a pointed look. Sighing, I tossed mine in my purse and leaned back into my parents’ sofa.

For the first time in my mom’s life, dinner was late.

Gasp. Shock. Horror.

“It’ll be just a few more minutes.”

A loud crash came from the kitchen, and Luca frowned. “You sure you don’t want a hand, Maggie?”

“No. No. You two relax. Greg?” Mom shouted.

“What?” Dad yelled from the basement.
