Luca’s thumb brushed my bottom lip, and I caught the tip with my teeth, showing no mercy as I bit down. He grunted and started pounding into me. I couldn’t catch my breath, and Luca didn’t want me to. I dug my nails into his shoulders, holding on for dear life. His eyes bore into me, the love, admiration, and possession in his stare pushing me over the edge. My body shook, and I bowed into him, shouting his name.

Luca planted his hands on either side of my thrashing head, his chin falling to his chest as he fucked me through my release, finally finding his own with a groan. He nuzzled my ear, whispering, “I love you.”

There was a knock on the door, and Luca sighed against my neck, making me shiver. “Maybe if we stay quiet, they’ll go away.”

Frankie’s voice boomed through the door, “We found Marco. He’s downstairs.”

SIXTEEN

I’d never seen Luca dress so quickly. He was out the door before I could slide my panties back on, his voice booming through the house. I smoothed my dress and rushed downstairs.

“What do you mean you can’t tell us where you’ve been?” Luca was nose to nose with Marco, while Frankie and Taz stood nearby, both posed at the ready.

“Exactly what I said. I can’t tell you where I was.”

“Someone shot at Sasha!” Luca barked at Marco, spit flying as he shoved him into the wall.

Marco frowned, clearly surprised by Luca’s words.

“No one shot at me.” I cautiously walked toward the standoff. All four men turned toward me, Marco taking a step my way before Luca’s arm shot out, holding him back.

“You okay, Red?” Marco looked me head to toe, his posture relaxing once he saw I was whole.

“Just peachy.”

“Sasha, go upstairs.” Luca’s tone left no room for my usual back talk, and Taz was paying close attention to my reaction.

I swallowed my anger at Luca’s tone and smiled demurely, turning to ascend the stairs like the perfect Mrs. Moretti. The silence behind me was the only thing making the whole situation less humiliating. Everyone was Luca’s bitch.

When I made it to the room, I kept the door cracked.

“You really think I’d hurt Sasha?”

“I don’t know anymore. You’re making moves behind my back, and now you just so happened to be in Chicago when someone tries to take Cy Chronis out, blocks away from my fiancée?”

“I’m your cousin!”

“And that’s the only reason we're having this conversation, instead of me putting a bullet between your fucking eyes. Now, I’m only going to ask you one more time. Why the fuck are you in Chicago?”

I held onto the door frame, my ears straining to hear what Marco said, but he stayed silent. The distinct sound of a gun cocking echoed up the stairwell.

“Luca?” Taz’s voice was low and tense.

“What good is family if they stab you in the back?”

“I would never—” The doorbell cut off whatever Marco was about to say.

“Go see who it is,” Luca ordered.

A woman’s frantic voice filled downstairs. “Luca! What are you doing?”

“Go upstairs, Adriana.”

“I’m not going anywhere until you listen to me. You had a couple of guys snatch Marco off the street! Are you crazy?” Adriana’s shrill voice cut through the house.

“Adriana, I’m not going to say it again. Go—”

“He was with me!” She screamed and then, in a more respectful tone, added. “He was with me.”
