“Get Mickie and Tootsie in here ASAP.”

The bathroom door closed, and then Marco mumbled, “Is that puke? God,this place is a fucking hole.” Then the door closed again.

For ten minutes,I stood in the closet as people filed in and out.

“Boss had fun with this one, huh?”

“Hey, you didn’t see the other guy. It took me two hours to clean him off the floor.”

“You think we should get the vomit?”

“Nah, that’s from some drunk asshole. Let the fucking bar handle it. We got our hands full here.”

“Wish he’d stop doing this in public spots. I mean, what’s the point of having the warehouse?”

“I know, man, but Moretti’s not right in the head since that redhead left his ass. Makes me miss Dante.”

“Yeah, but look where his sanity got him.”

“You’re right. You know—”

The bathroom door squeaked open. “Guys, shut the fuck up. The boss is out here, and you’re in here gossiping like a couple of idiots. You got five minutes.

“Yeah, yeah,Paulie. We’re almost done.”

Sure enough, the two men left the bathroom about five minutes later.

When the door opened again, my whole body tensed. The closet door opened, and Luca stood there holding a towel. “Let’s clean you up.”

Taking a step out, I looked around. The body and blood were gone. They’d even cleaned up the glass from the broken mirror. Only my vomit sat as a reminder of what happened.

Luca ran water over one corner of the towel. I stood dumbfounded as he wiped my face gently. “Sasha, are you okay?”

I shook my head. Of course, I wasn’t fucking okay.

Luca sighed and pulled my hands under the faucet. He took hand cleaner from his pocket and scrubbed my hands free of vomit and the specs of blood he’d left there. When I was visibly clean with only a couple of spots drying on my dress, he asked me for my shoes.

“No. I need those.”

“They’re evidence. I need to destroy them.”

I stared down at the dark ooze crusted on the edges of my green pumps. A gag rocked my body, but Luca held me and rubbed my back. Calming myself, I stepped out of the heels, and Luca handed me a pair of black flip-flops.

“Really?”

He shrugged. “It’s 2 a.m. I doubt anyone will notice.”

“Are my friends still here?”

“Ashley is.”

Nodding, I turned from him to leave.

“Sasha, wait.”

My hand rested on the handle as I glanced back at Luca. “What?”

He pushed his hands in his pockets, staring at me. “I’m sorry.”
