He grabbed the whiskey, taking abiggulp before grabbing the bottle of vodka and heading toward the living room. “Noted.”

And like that, Scott and I went back to our ridiculously unprofessional relationship.

A couple of hours later, Scott was passed out on my couch, and I was slipping into a silky negligee when a banging at the front door startled me from my nighttime routine. Trying to keep the late-night visitor from waking the entire building, I rushed to answer, passing an unconscious Scott snoring on the couch.

“Who is it?” My eyes darted back to my comatose companion. Nerves twisted my stomach.

“It’s me.”

The gravel in Luca’s voice grated against my heart.

My hands smoothed down the door, stopping to hover over the deadbolt. “What do you want?”

“Let me in, Sasha.”

A shiver shook my core at the command. My fingers rested on the lock. “Why?”

“Just let me in.”

The vodka churned in my system, whispering encouragement. All I could think about was Scott asking me what I wanted.

Luca.

It would always be Luca.

Letting out the breath I’d been holding, I turned the lock and cracked the door. That was all the invitation Luca needed. Luca was in my apartment before I knew what was happening, and the door shut with a soft click.

For every step Luca took toward me, I took two back until I was pressed against the end of the couch. Wild eyes devoured every inch of my exposed skin as Luca’s hands balled into fists at his sides.

While I was in a scrap of silk, Luca was still in his dress shirt and slacks, his neck the only skin exposed to my greedy eyes.We stood staring at each other, the alcohol causing me to sway into him while he leaned toward me. My heart begged to be next to his. The traitor didn’t care about my pride.

Ryan took this opportunity to jump from the cat tree down onto the slumbering Scott. When my blond friend popped up from the couch, cursing my furry son, Luca finally looked away from my body.

“What the fuck is this?” Luca advanced on Scott, and I jumped in between the two.

“Sasha, what’s going on? What’s he doing here?”Scott leapt off the couch. The drunk fool tripped over the ottoman, trying to get his bearings.

The sound of Scott’s voice set a fire under Luca’s ass, and he sprung toward the confused goofball. Leaping onto Luca’s back, I wrapped my arms around his neck. “Scott, I think it’s time for you to head home!”

Luca tried to shake me off gently, but I hung on like a mold spore.

Straightening up, Scott was fighting a losing battle with gravity. I worried about him leaving, but he had a better chance with a ride-share than with a pissed-off Luca. “I’m not going to leave you with this guy. Look at him.”

Scott’s words stopped Luca’s struggling. His hands gripped my thighs, and he sat on the couch, pinning me behind his back. “I would never hurt her. Please, just go.”

Feeling Luca’s body somewhat relax, I nodded to Scott. “I’m fine. Luca won’t hurt me.”

Scott frowned but nodded. When the front door closed, I released Luca and pushed him off the couch.

With a grunt, he landed on the floor.

“What the fuck are you doing here,Luca?”

He ran his long fingers through his hair, not even trying to stand up. “I needed to see you. I can’t do this.”

“Can’t do what, Luca?”Pulling my feet under my ass, I leaned against the arm of the couch.

He leaned back on hispalms, his eyes guarded as he looked at me. “I can’t do this us apart thing. It’s killing me.”
