“Thank you. This is… this is perfect.”
“It is apart from one thing. I think I need to see if I can kiss you until your knees go weak.”
Chapter 34
Matt
Wewentaroundandaround on the Ferris Wheel while we kissed like teenagers. Eventually, Frankie pulled away.
“Bear, if we don’t stop spinning soon, I’m going to throw up all over you.”
“Shit, sorry. Your motion sickness kinda slipped my mind. Let me get you off. I have another surprise for you, anyway.”
I held my hand up, and the operator brought us to the bottom. I helped Frankie off, giving her a minute to calm her wobbly legs.
“Did I make your knees go weak, Rogue?” I asked her, feeling extremely smug as I looked at her flushed cheeks, swollen lips, and lust filled eyes.
“Mission accomplished, and you made my pussy wet as well, which is an added bonus.”
A laugh spilled into the night, and Frankie span around, wide eyed. I pulled her to me, my mouth finding her ear. “Always safe, remember?” She nodded.
“You’re supposed to be hiding quietly,” I yelled and from the shadows stepped Emmy, Addi, the twins, Ivy, Ethan with baby Star, along with Lori and Phil.
Frankie looked at her family and then back at me, the shock of the events of the evening clear on her face. I had to fight to hide my smile because the best was yet to come.
“Come on.” I pulled her hand, and we made our way past all the rides to the boardwalk. Lanterns lit the way, and the sound of the waves serenaded us as we walked to where Tanner waited for us.
“Is Tanner wearing a suit? I mean, a buttoned up, normal guy suit? What did you do to him?” Frankie cried when she saw her brother.
I laughed. “He has an important job to do. He wanted to look the part.”
“Job?”
“He’s going to marry us. If you’ll have me.”
Frankie spluttered, looking at me like I’d lost my mind. I took her hands in mine while her family gathered around us.
“Rogue, I wish I could tell you the moment I fell in love with you. It might have been the second I met you. It might have been when I found you naked and out cold on the bathroom floor. It might have been the first time I saw you in power ranger pajamas or maybe it was the moment I realized the small of your back is my safe place and if I touch you there all my problems fade away. All I do know is that one day I woke up and realized I couldn’t live without you.”
She let out a small whimper as she stared at me, her long dark hair dancing around her in the gentle breeze.
“You are my everything. I know I made things really hard for us at the start. I kept secrets when I should have been honest, I ran when I should have stayed and I pushed when I should have held on for dear life. But no matter what I did, you kept reminding me that you were all I needed. I don’t want to run. I want to tie myself to you for life. You told me recently you didn’t care about the wedding or the legality of it, so we’re doing a Cosmic Godwho knows if it’s really legalstyle wedding. I want to be your foundation. I want to be the person you turn to when you’re scared, or happy, or excited. I want to be a constant in your life. I want to marry you, Rogue. Now, tonight, here. All of this was for you. Tonight was our first date, but I want it to be the last first date you ever go on. Grow old with me, have my babies, force me to take baths with you, and burn our pancakes. Give me your heart and I promise to take care of it for the rest of my life. You will always, always be safe with me.”
Frankie blinked, not saying a word. For a second, I worried it was too much. That it was too soon. But then she smiled. She smiled that smile that made everything else fall away.
“You did all of this for me?” she let out breathlessly.
“I would stop the world turning if it meant you looked at me the way you’re looking at me right now, Rogue. I love you so much. Remember, you do words. I do actions. I’m taking action. I don’t want to wait another heartbeat before I can call you my wife.”
“Yes.”
“What?”
“Yes. I want to marry you. Right here, right now.”
Whooping and clapping broke out around us, bringing us back to the moment that I’d forgotten her family was witnessing.
“Right, let’s do this,” Tanner announced, clapping his hands.
