He mixed a little splash of the coconut rum with some cola from the fridge for Julie, and for himself, a glass of water and a shot glass.
"You drink it straight?"
"Yeah, though with how long it's been, my alcohol tolerance must be in the gutter... hmm, maybe after the first one or two I'll switch to mixed drinks like yours."
"Doesn't it burn, though? I hear it burns..." She got her TV set up for streaming and brought upGame of Thrones,Season One.
"It does, yeah, but I like it... hey, I forgot that Sean Bean was in this." He saw the renowned actor's face.
"Who?"
"Sean Bean! What, you don't know who Sean Bean is?" He looked at her like she had two heads as she got the first episode started, the opening theme playing.
"N-no, heh... is he, like, well known?"
"Bond villain 006,Richard Sharpe,Lord of the Rings... known to die in almost everything he acts in. You never heard of him before?"
"Um, just this... which one is-"
"That's him."
"Oh, he's Ned Stark! Uh... y-you said he dies in almost everything?"
"Yup."
"I... I see..." She replied carefully, not wanting to spoil anything.
"I take it he dies in this too, huh?"
"... Well..."
"Yeah, fair enough, we'll just watch and see how it goes... I dig the opening credits though." He tilted his head back with a shot, and hissed as he brought the glass of water to follow.
"Geeze, is it that bad?"
"No. Good..." He replied, nodding. "God, I missed this stuff..." He looked over to Julie who held her glass of rum and coke with ice, well-diluted. "How's yours?"
"Good. Can hardly taste the alcohol, but it gives a nice little coconut taste!"
"Well, be careful. Drink it too fast, it'll get on top of ya and next thing you'll have your head in the toilet. Don't want that..."
"No..."
"Maybe best not to tell your mom, either, about my letting you have some booze. Not, uh... the best first impression. And on the first day at that..."
"I won't. And if she finds out, I'll tell her I stole it, heh..."
"You? Steal? Perish the thought- woah..." He was amused at the idea of Julie doing something like that, she seemed like such a good girl. But then when he glanced at the screen again from her, there was an utterly pale girl fixed to a tree with blood on her lips. She looked... eerily haunting. A tingle went up his spine.
"Yeah. She's, uh..." Julie diverted her eyes, dreading the scene that would come later where she... well... at least Chris was handling it just fine. He kept watching, but she didn't look back until she knew the girl was out of the scene... for the time being.
"Well, I can see this series earned its R-rating, huh? Boobies, dead children... heads on pikes."
"Yeah. It's intense, but I like it." She shrugged, smiling, but still glanced to Chris from time to time to see if he was enjoying it too. He seemed pretty captivated.
A few minutes later, and things opened up at Winterfell.
"Men on horseback in open prairie?" He nodded, seeing a terrified man walking away from them. "Nope, ya haven't got a chance, bud."
