“You have to try it.”
Loosening her up was going to be harder than I thought. “Come here,” I said.
She leaned forward. Not enough for me to feed the donut to her, but closer at least. I’d take it. “You are perfect. So perfect, in fact, that I haven’t thought of anything but you since that day at the gym. This will come as no surprise, but I want you so fucking badly that I took Min’s phone and texted you last night because I couldn’t take waiting any more.”
“You...excuse me? She didn’t text me?”
“No. She didn’t. Min told you to stop by any Wednesday night but didn’t press you figuring you’d come if you could. But I’m not so considerate. As you know. Drink the beer. Eat the donut. You don’t need to lose a fucking pound, Rae.”
Her jaw dropped. I may have pushed too far. “How...why would you say that?”
“Because I know you want this but are afraid to eat it.”
“I’m not afraid. I just...like to eat well.”
“Mmm, hmm. This is the same girl who made fun of my date eating a salad at KC’s?”
She smiled. “I mean, I like to eat well when I can.”
“Sorry I don’t have egg whites at the moment. But I do have this. Come here.”
Rae did lean close enough this time. As I moved the piece of donut toward her, Rae’s mouth opened. I swallowed, wondering about my sanity.
Slipping it inside, I reluctantly pulled my fingers away. Watching as she chewed, I tore off another piece, popped it into my mouth, and chased it with cider beer.
“Good?”
She nodded.
“And for the record, I don’t typically drink beer in the morning either. Growing up in a vineyard makes you appreciate the limitations of alcohol. But one glass,” I said, lifting it, “will not kill us.”
She lifted hers. Then taking a sip, Rae peered back at the donut. This time, I wasn’t planning to be so subtle. Tearing off another piece, I moved toward her.
“I can feed myself,” she said.
“True. But that wouldn’t be as fun. Come closer.”
She leaned forward. Opened her mouth. I put the piece inside and finished with a slow swipe of my thumb on her lower lip. Immediately hard, immediately regretting this idea, I should have stopped. Instead, I tore off another small piece and ate it, so Rae didn’t have to dine alone.
We never broke eye contact. She really, really did not want to enjoy this.
Poor Rae.
Another piece. This time, I didn’t have to instruct her. Rae leaned forward again, opened her mouth, took the piece of donut. Before I could pull my hand back, she very distinctly touched my thumb with her tongue before I took it from her mouth.
As she chewed, I leaned into the bar. Positioned my elbow on it and reached up again. Rae met my hand, this time with no donut in sight. Her lips parted, and I took advantage. Running my thumb again across her lip, I used the wetness to let it glide as Rae’s mouth closed around me.
When she began to suckle, the tip of her tongue touching me, Rae’s teeth grazing my thumb, I began to feel the tell-tale tightening. This woman would actually make me come if didn’t pull away now. I may have started the game, but Rae won this round easily.
“Sorry,” I said, breathing deeply and taking a sip of beer. The donut was gone. But my desire for her wasn’t. Not even close.
“Are you though?”
“Not at all.”
“Little early for drinks, don’t you think?”
I changed my mind about Hudson. I did hate him after all.
