“Those two people happen to be owners of one of the most successful travel magazines around. It’s kind of their business to tell people what they think,” she reminded him.
“I’m sure someone out there has had a run-in with them before. Right?” he said, and suddenly she got an idea.
“That’s it.” She snapped her fingers. “I need to make some phone calls.” She started to get up.
“So, I’m guessing dinner is off?” He motioned to the food.
She looked down at the burger he’d gotten her and smiled. “No, bring it with us. Suddenly, I’m very hungry.”
CHAPTERNINETEEN
There was nothing Damion could do other than sit and listen and watch the group of women plot.
They worked into the night, compiling lists, names, and phone numbers. Both Hannah and Elle left shortly after ten to head upstairs to the apartment on the top floor to sleep.
Everyone else, however, stayed put. He made a few coffee runs, and had even grabbed some donuts, cookies, and a pie. He knew that Jules would need sugar to keep working.
They ended up calling it a night around one o’clock in the morning. Jules decided she was too tired to drive, and he drove them back to her place. He knew he could get away with wearing the same outfit tomorrow morning and guessed that she would probably want to change.
It felt as if they had just laid down to sleep when his alarm was going off.
He groaned. Jules groaned.
“Sleep,” he told her. “I can come back and get you in an hour.”
“No, I need to start making calls this morning.” She rolled out of bed. “I could use some sugar. Big fat frosting-covered donuts the size of my head,” she mumbled as she made her way towards her bathroom. He smiled and followed her.
While he went to work outside, he knew Jules and the rest of the Wildflowers would be inside, hashing out their plan and putting it into action.
All around the camp, everyone was buzzing about the interview, employees and guests alike.
He overheard several guests talking about how much of a bitch Lisa was or how Joe had hit on someone and wouldn’t take no for an answer.
He even overheard someone talking about how Lisa had basically attacked Damion during the entire sail.
“The poor guy was trying to push her away the entire trip. She just wouldn’t take no for an answer. Spoiled brat is what she is. I wouldn’t doubt that they set out to ruin this place from the get-go,” the woman said.
The other woman responded. “This place is so amazing. I’m going to tell all my friends to book here. I’m even going to go in and see if we can come back in November.”
Damion smiled and when he ran into Jules rushing towards Elle’s office, he quickly told her what he’d overheard.
“Thanks.” She kissed him. “You just made my day. Gotta go,” she said, waving at him as she rushed into the office.
“Lunch?” he asked.
“Sure, bring it here though.” She pointed to the office.
He doubted anyone else in the room would have time for lunch or had even thought of it. He strolled into the dining room and filled a tray with a variety of pre-packed lunches and desserts. Then he added a bunch of bottled drinks and sodas.
When he knocked on the door, Jules was on the phone and waved him in.
Aubrey stood up and helped him set all the food down.
“Wow, this is great. I was just going to make a food run.” She grabbed a container and then raced to answer the phone when it rang.
Everyone else in the room—Aubrey, Elle, Scarlett, and Jules—were all on their cell phones, talking or listening to someone talk.
He set a chicken sandwich down in front of Jules along with her favorite drink, a bottled of unsweetened tea with lemon in it. Then he sat next to her and started eating his own lunch.
