Shock ripples through me, Corbin has locked Creed away and taken control. I need to find a way to get Corbin to release Creed, he wouldn’t want to fight to the death especially not against his brother. I peer over my shoulder and see Zeke and Cairo struggling to hold Cole back. My brother shoots me a warning look, if it comes to it, I know he won’t let me fight Corbin–– he’ll take my place. I refuse to lose anyone else I love.

I will not let you harm him.

You laid with him!

I reel back in shock, the hell does he mean I laid with him?

You have no idea what you are talking about Corbin–

He told us; you dare to disrespect me by laying with another.

You need to calm the hell down Corbin, let Creed out now so we can sort this!

Credence has grown weak and bows to your charms, but I will not. I am an alpha and will not allow you to treat me as less than I am.

You need to calm down, I never slept with Colton!

Corbin releases an angry growl and stalks toward me, I hear growls sound out from the three guys behind me, but Corbin doesn’t even bat an eye at them. Before he can get within five feet of me Kane and Meg jump in front and block me from his view.

“Stop, whatever it is we can work this out son.” Corbin releases a vicious growl that sends trembles through everyone except me. He is using his alpha power to cower his pack into submission. I try to brush past Kane, but he snaps his arm out and shakes his head. I spot movement out the corner of my eye, I notice its Davina moving toward us. She looks angry, Kane ushers me to the middle of him and Meg and stands tall as he faces her.

“I will not have this here; we do not fight or sort our troubles with violence.” She turns toward Corbin; his cheeks lift in warning. “This may be how you did things with your pack, but you won’t do it here on my lands. You have a problem, then use your fucking words not your fist or teeth. We have all lost enough because of violence and I refuse to allow you all to fight amongst yourselves on my island.” That… Was not what I was expecting her to say. Corbin begins to shake his head and blow out harsh breaths, I can tell he and Creed are fighting internally. I don’t know what has gotten into the pair of them but whatever it is they clearly are not seeing eye to eye on the matter.

“Son, shift back please.” Meg begs, I see Davina flinch, but she quickly tries to mask it. I stifle my gasp; she does care about her kids–– so why act like she doesn’t? I hear bones snap and quickly turn back toward Corbin; within a few seconds Creed is back and braced on his hands and knees. Sky rushes past us and chucks a pair of sweats beside him, he takes a few deep breaths then heaves himself up and pulls the pants on, I would be lying if I said I didn’t just check him out. He lifts his gaze to mine and I see so much remorse in his hazel eyes, that look guts me! I break away from Meg and Kane and move to him, I stop when there is only sliver of space between us. His hands go to my hips, I don’t hesitate to wrap my arms around him and pull him to me, he buries his face in the crook of my neck.

“I’m so sorry princess.”

“Shhh, we can talk about it later.”

“Someone want to tell me what the hell is going on here? I offered a safe haven, not for you and your pack to come here and shed blood.” I pull away from Creed and interlock our hands together as we both face his bio mom.

“We meant no harm; this won’t happen again.” Shelley says as she comes to stand beside me, I didn’t even know she was here.

“You know what will happen if it does Shelley, see to it that it doesn’t come to that.” Davina eyes us all before turning and stalking away, I have no idea what the hell she just meant! Shelley moves to stand in front of us, the scowl on her face pisses me off. She has no right to look down her nose at us, we are wolves and have been living in a confined space for days, of course tensions will be high!

“You do realize what could have happened right?”

“Take the bass out of your tone when you speak to me!” Creed snaps back at her.

“You nearly caused a war between our two factions Credence!”

“What the hell are you on about Shelley?”

“If you had of drawn blood, what do you think the vampires on this island would have done?” I stiffen and dart my gaze around, I never thought about that. We could have just put both packs in danger because of a family feud, how could we have been so stupid and selfish. I feel Creed stiffen beside me, he looks around at the growing crowd and each of our onlooker’s wear masks of fear. Living with vampires is new for all of us and this is going to take some time for us all to get used to. Creed tightens his grip on my hand and brushes past Shelley, well yanking me along behind him, he ignores his parents as we pass them and doesn’t stop until we are standing in front of Cole, Zeke and Cairo. Cole glares at his brother but says nothing, tension thrums through me as the silence between them stretches.

“You went too far tonight brother, way to fucking far.” Creed doesn’t wait for him to respond; he moves past them and leads me inside.

I tuck Harlem into bed and turn to face Creed, he sits on the end of the bed with his head clasped between his hands. He looks do defeated and I don’t like seeing him like this, he and I have to talk things out because this divide between us is doing more damage than good. We have a greater enemy to fight and in order for us to take the council down and figure out what part Davina plays in all of this. I move toward him and sit down making sure there’s space between us, I can’t think whenever we touch. The heat that overtakes my body whenever he touches me consumes all my thoughts. We remain in silence for a while, as I try to think of a way to break it and broach the subject but I’m honestly at a stalemate. Cole is his brother and this rift between them only started because of me!

“I had no control tonight.” I lift my gaze; he looks at me with a solemn face. So much anguish shines within those stunning hazel depths. “I have never not had control, Corbin locked me out Jess and because of that I nearly killed my brother!” I reach over and grip one of his hands and hold it between mine.

“But you didn’t. You stopped him!” He shakes his head rapidly denying my claim, he yanks his hand from my grasp and begins to pace in front of me. He tugs on his hair, and I cringe when I see some of the strands pull loose.

“You don’t get it! If it wasn’t for my mom and dad I…I don’t know if I would have stopped. Corbin had me locked down Jess, I couldn’t break free of his cage–– I was trapped in my own mind. Corbin’s rage toward Cole was something I’ve never felt before, Corbin wanted to kill him Jess, my own fucking brother!” The anguish in his voice is nearly my undoing.

“What made you think I had slept with Cole?” I whisper, his head whips toward me, I ignore the look of betrayal in his hazel eyes making sure not to back down.

“Colton told me the two of you fucked.” I reel back, my eyes widen at the implication.
