I grin wide. “I thought you said that you were struggling to get your dick wet.”
Damian shoots a lethal glare at me as Nessa’s head flicks toward me before gaping at Damian. “Wait. Are you having an itty bitty issue?”
“I got no issue,” he snaps, a little too quickly, making Nessa howl out laughing as I struggle to keep my laughter in for fear of the pain that will come with it.
“Speaking of his itty bitty issue,” I say, glancing at Slade to find those deep eyes already on mine. “When we left the party last night, you two seemed like you were pretty damn close to solving his itty bitty issue.”
They both go dead quiet, looking anywhere but at me…or each other.
“Bullshit,” I gasp. “Don’t tell me you two sealed the deal while Slade and I were sinking like the titanic.”
“No,” Nessa says. “No deals were sealed.”
“What? Why?”
Nessa scrunches her face up in disgust before glaring across the room at Damian. “Because he-”
“HEY!” he yells. “You promised you wouldn’t tell.”
Nessa holds her hands up in innocence. “I didn’t promise anything,” she shoots back at him. Damian seems to go far away, staring at the ground until his eyes go big. He gapes up at Nessa, realizing she must be right and she grins wide with victory as he hangs his head in shame. “They’re going to find out sooner or later. We might as well be the ones to tell them.”
Damian cringes. “I was kinda hoping that with Sky getting a bullet in the ass, she’d be headlining school on Monday, not me…or you.”
Nessa shakes her head. “No chance in hell.”
Damian lets out a sigh and crosses the room to drop down on the chair beside Slade, ready to face the music as a slow grin cuts across Nessa’s face. “So, we probably drank a bit too much last night, actually I know we drank too much. We were still on the dancefloor, maybe only five minutes after you guys left which is when shit got nasty…”
Nessa glances up at Damian and they both look as though this story shouldn’t be told, in fact, they both look a little green. “So, I accidentally elbowed him in the gut and it was like a chain reaction. He just projectile hurled all over me, all through the back of my hair and on the side of my face. I swear, I could taste it. It was dripping off me in chunks and I was so shocked I couldn’t even move like I was so disgusted but I was too shocked to even scream at him. I should have been running to the shower or a hose, or dive in the fucking pool, but nope. I just stood there.”
Slade laughs, reaching over and nailing his best friend in the chest, knowing there’s no way he’ll ever live this down. I start to laugh, figuring that’s the end of the story when she keeps going and I listen with bated breath, wondering how this story could possibly get worse.
“So, he tried to save me from his chunks and scoop it off me into his hands and it just sort of rubbed it in like a vomit bath.”
“Please stop,” I beg, feeling queasy.
She glances back at me, looking horrified. “But I haven’t got to the best part yet.”
I cringe and give in. If we don’t hear it from her then I’ll have to wait until I get back to school and who knows when that’s going to be.
Nessa lets out a heavy breath and looks back at Damian for a quick second before focusing heavily on her nail polish. “So, he had chunks in his hands and I made the mistake of looking down at it and I swear, it kind of smelled like lasagna and the second that thought went through my head, I threw up too, all over the fucking floor. It was humiliating. I could feel it splashing against my ankles.”
Okay, I’m going to be fucking sick.
“Damian tried to get us out of there. It was kinda sweet actually, it was like he was trying to be some kind of hero, but when we moved, it was like we were ice skating and we started slipping. I just…I can’t. I’ll never be able to show my face at school again. Rachel is going to have a field day with this.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I ask as a smile slowly spread wide across my face.
“Believe me, I really wish I was,” she says, dropping her face into her hands. “How am I ever going to live this down?”
“You gotta own it,” Slade says in a singsong voice, enjoying their downfall way too much. “I’m just sorry I’m going to miss it.”
“Huh? What’s that supposed to mean? I need you there as back-up. All those bitches are going to try and laugh at her and I need to make sure she’s safe.”
