"Scream my name when you come, Hala," he ordered, his lips moving against my neck and his hips grinding against my leg. "I want you to scream 'God' so loud that the whole void hears and knows who you belong to."
"Oh, fuck," I gasped, my toes curling tight.
It was the claiming that ruined me, echoing Sang's and Mav's words earlier. I was theirs—they wouldn't ever let me go. Not for a second.
"God!" I screamed when pleasure erupted through me, razing through the sharp pain in my overstimulated clit, setting my whole body on fire. "Oh, fuck, God.God!"
"Yess," Void hissed, keeping up the frenzied pace of his finger and wringing every bit of blinding, intense pleasure from me until I pushed at his arm, silently pleading for mercy, and surprised when he gave it.
"Enough—apology," I said, panting.
He laughed, a low sound that seemed incongruous with his calculating stares and cold voice. But then so was him going easy on me and trying to begentleearlier.
Maybe he's just a big, clumsy monster,I thought, my head floaty from pleasure.
Void made a dark, throaty sound, nipping my throat. "I am not clumsy," he argued.
I batted his chest with a limp hand. "Stop listening if you don't like what you hear."
"It's hardly my fault you're thinking so loud. I've never met a human so open and vulnerable before."
I frowned at that—it wasn't like I was trying to be open—but the back of a claw brushed the furrow from between my brows.
"Sleep. You're in no danger here."
"Only from you," I muttered, but allowed him to gently close my legs and cover me with a clean silk sheet. "Why are you being nice to me?"
It was an echo of the question I asked Sang, but it was important to me. No one had made me bleed, or made me scream from terror, or even slammed fists into me. Void's claws had hurt my head, but he'd been trying to be gentle. None of this made any sense.
"Why is it so hard for you to trust kindness and niceties?" Void countered, rolling me onto my side and resting his big arm across my waist. Fuck, he was so big, which was pretty obvious since he was a giant shadowkind, but lying beside him, I was even more aware of his size. My feet barely grazed his knees, he was so much taller.
"People aren't usually nice to me," I admitted, and ducked my head against his chest, the silk of his shirt nice against my cheek.
"I believe I've offered to slaughter your enemies," he said, running claws lightly down my back. "All I need are names."
"I don't know their names," I replied, and then shook my head. "Forget it. I'm fine."
Void made a low sound, absolutely not forgetting it. "These enemies. They're the reason you have scars. And why you have that necklace."
I groaned, rolling onto my side away from him. "All this was about the locket?"
"No," he disagreed. "In the beginning yes, but your sweetness calls to me, lonely girl."
"I'm not lonely," I muttered, scowling at the wall across from me.
Void laughed softly, moulding his body against my back, his arm tightening on my waist. "You're a bad liar."
I knew that, but it was rude to point it out.
"Go away."
"This is my room."
"Find another," I huffed, annoyed that sleep was descending on me. I was too annoyed to sleep. "I don't want to talk about my locket."
"I understand," he replied, splaying his fingers over my middle. "I'll ask tomorrow. Sleep now."
"Or you could never ask again," I muttered, my eyes slipping shut.
