"What?" I said.
"There are just a lot of secrets here, and I don't feel comfortable."
"What do you mean you don't feel comfortable?
"As far as I know, Alice never told Rosalie, right?"
"Yeah."
"And Rosalie is my fiancée, and we don't have secrets."
"Yeah. Well, you can't say anything to Rosalie. The only person who can say something to her is Alice." I walked over to him and placed my hand on his shoulder. "You know that, right? It's not our secret to tell."
"I know. I just wish I didn't know."
"I'm sorry, man. I shouldn't have told you."
"No. We're best friends. Of course, you were going to tell me."
"I don't know about that. You never told me you made out with Rosalie when we were younger."
"Come on now. You would've kicked my ass."
"True. You'd still be in the hospital if I had found out." I laughed. "But you know it's not for us to tell Rosalie anything."
"I know. But how are things between you and Alice?"
"Great. She's great. I'm great. Everything's great."
"Okay. And you were just sending her emails for fun?"
"What are you talking about?"
"I know you emailed her while you were gone."
"Yeah. I just wanted—"
"Cut the bullshit, Foster." Oliver shook his head. "You weren't sending her emails because you wanted to make sure she was okay the apartment. You never send me any emails when you go on business trips."
"Yeah, because you're a grown man and—"
"And Alice is a grown woman, and Rosalie and I have been here to take care of her. You got a thing for her?"
"Of course not. I mean, she's pretty, but that's it. She's here to find herself and find a job and find a man. Shit, the guy she's with right now could be the one."
"And you’re okay with that?"
"Why wouldn't I be?" I stared him in the eyes.
"Just because you and my sister are all in love doesn't mean it’ll be the same for Alice and me."
"Okay. I'm just asking because—"
"Because what, Oliver?" I was starting to get angry again.
"Because as soon as you found out Alice was coming..." He started acting funny. "And, well, I just don't want anything to go wrong."
"What's going to go wrong?"
