"You too," I said. I watched as he walked away, and then I felt Rosalie next to me.

"Oh my gosh, that guy was absolutely gorgeous."

"He was," I said, looking at her. "He really was. And he was nice too."

"So you made a connection?"

"Yeah. You're fortunate he came when he did because I was going to kill you."

"What? Why?"

"Diesel"—I pointed over at the short, pudgy guy—"basically propositioned me like I was some cheap hooker."

"Oh no. I'm sorry."

"It's fine."

"And you made a couple of connections, right?"

"Yeah. Vincent was cool, and Sam was cool. I guess I'll see if they match with me."

"Yay. I'm so glad you had fun at the event."

"It was okay, but I cannot believe I let you convince me to wear this ball gown. I feel like an absolute idiot."

"Well, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to our speed date tonight. We will come up to all of you and figure out who you would like to be reconnected with. If you both choose each other, we will immediately give each other's phone numbers. Have a great evening."

"That seems a bit awkward, doesn't it?" I said to Rosalie.

"What? Why?"

"I mean, what if you put someone's name and they didn't choose you, and you find out right here right now?"

She shrugged. "Eh, we're all used to rejection."

"I guess. It just seems a little weird." I watched as Diesel headed over to me. He stopped and looked at Rosalie.

"Hey, sexy."

"Hi," she said, nodding.

"I was about to offer Alice in Wonderland here a hundred bucks to let me motorboat her, but now I've seen you." He bit down on his lower lip. "How's about I offer you two hundred bucks to let me make you come?" Rosalie's jaw dropped, and her eyes popped out. And before I knew what was happening, she had slapped him across the face.

"You disgusting little man. Get away from me." I stared at her in shock, and then I stared at Arthur. His mouth was wide open, but he didn't look upset. In fact, he looked pleased.

"Oh shit, baby. Hell yeah. I'll offer you five hundred if you do that again." Rosalie looked at me and then looked at him. I started giggling.

"Come on, Alice. Let's go." We walked toward the front of the bar, and I walked up to the hostess.

"So I liked Vincent and Sam," I said, handing her the two cards. "I don't know if they're..."

"Oh, they're both interested in you." She beamed at me. "Here are their phone numbers. Feel free to text them."

"Will do. Thank you." I looked over at Rosalie, who was shaking her head still.

"Can you believe the nerve of that man? Can you?"

"I can," I said, giving her a look. "Trust me. He wasn't a prize when I talked to him either."
