“You’re not going to make this easy, are you?” Tripp growled.

“What have I told you about easy?”

Grunting, Tripp dragged them both an inch closer to the basket. “There’s no….fun…in it…” A growl this time, as he inched them across the blanket, bunching it up around their heads as he made for the wicker his fingers could almost brush against now.

“Exactly,” Zakk purred, waiting for the next time he stretched to rock against him, changing his grumbling grunt into a long, low groan.

“Not…fair.”

“Hmmm, that sits right up there with easy,” Zakk replied, rolling his hips again, until Tripp gave up reaching, and instead, locked his arm across the small of Zakk’s back and rolled them until Zakk was on top of him.

“You wanna squirm, I can give you a reason to squirm!” Tripp growled, rocking Zakk against him.

Tripp was all hard body, angles, planes, and the strength to move Zakk any way he wanted him. At the moment, it was a rough back and forth drag of rubbing denim. Growing thick and aroused behind his zipper, Zakk tipped his head back and watched the sky fade in and out as pleasure washed over him.

Tripp skimmed fingertips up his sides, thumbs stroking over his pecs, plucking, and pinching as Zakk took over the lazy, undulating motions that heightened every sensation.

“Shirt, off,” Tripp growled after the cloth impeded his movements.

Zakk stripped it off in one motion and flung it somewhere, leaning back enough that Tripp could wiggle out of his with a little help.

“Ow, damn, I know I need a haircut, but you don’t need to yank like that,” Tripp protested, wiggling beneath him until they got his shirt tossed aside too. Zakk smoothed the ruffled hair down and leaned in to brush a kiss over Tripp’s lips.

“Thought you were into the rough stuff?”

“I think I’ll take a pass at the hair pulling.”

They were both chuckling when Zakk kissed him again.

Drawing away meant letting the light fill the space between them and the blue sky come back into view along with… “Whoa! Oh shit!”

“What!”

Tripp’s scramble to rear up and roll over to see what had caught Zakk’s attention sent Zakk tumbling and rushing to get to his feet.

“Is that real!” Tripp squeaked as Zakk yanked him backwards.

“It moved didn’t it!”

Despite their panic, the scorpion stood watching them like it was bored. The damn thing was probably laughing at them, not that Zakk wanted to wait around to find out.

“Where’s my shirt?” Tripp asked gaze darting in every direction while still trying to keep track of the scorpion.

“I’ll buy you another one when I replace mine,” Zakk said, keeping hold of Tripp’s arm as he backed away.

“Our food…”

Tripp tried to go for it, but Zakk wasn’t letting go.

“It’s the official property of that scorpion now, may it eat to its heart’s content,” Zakk replied, turning and dragging Tripp back towards the trail. Only when they were back on the path did Zakk start laughing. Doubling over, gasping for air and damn near sinking to his knees on the pebbled path, Zakk couldn’t even answer the question, all he could do was laugh in relief and a hint of embarrassment.

“For fuck’s sake….what?” Tripp asked.

Glancing up at him to see him actively looking around just sent Zakk into a whole new fit of laughter.

He could hear Tripp cursing, stomping around, kicking pebbles and grumbling, the mental image alone had him clutching his sides as they cramped up. Gasping, Zakk tried to calm down, filling his thoughts with images of the dead armadillos that had lined some of the highways along the way.

That helped. Ragged breaths turned to smooth ones as he was finally able to straighten up. He was still snickering though, especially when he caught a glimpse of the look on Tripp’s face. Hands on his head he turned away, exhaled, and hopefully pushed the last of the humorous thoughts away.
