“Yeah, it is.”
“How do people even figure out how to bend the glow sticks to get them to do that?”
“Some of this stuff is more like glow threads and shoestrings.”
“True, check out this web.”
Glowing eyes peered out of the center, the backs of neon legs reaching around to the front of the web. On the other side, the body was a neon coil the shape of an orb weaver spider. All in all it had an adorably creepy effect.
Straightening up, Zakk caught sight of something that got his blood pounding.
“Take a look up there!”
“Where?” Tripp asked, but Zakk was already spinning him around, and pointing, so there would be no chance of Tripp missing the gigantic swing set. “Oh you gotta be fuckin’ kidding me.”
“Come one we have got to try that.”
Was hard to move Tripp faster than he was willing to go, at least when he was dragging his feet. All of Zak’s effort paid off though, when they reached the platform to see that it was practically empty.
“It just couldn’t be crowded, could it.”
“Nope,” Zakk said as they got settled in their seat. Safety devises were fashioned and double checked. No company wanted to risk it’s reputation by fucking up and actually getting someone killed, especially the talent. As their swing rose into the sky and began swinging over a giant net, the true scope of the neon parade through the desert came alive.
“Why does it always have to be airborne?” Tripp groaned, but he was smiling, one arm draped over Zakk’s shoulders and a fading sunset level on the horizon.
“’cause when I’m around you, it’s hard to keep my feet on the ground,” Zakk said. “The earth can’t contain what I feel but the sky is endless.”
“Endless is what I want our adventures together to be,” Tripp murmured. His breath tickled the soft skin beneath Zakk’s ear, sent a shiver down his spine and left him wishing they were alone.
“I don’t ever want this tour to be over,” Tripp said, his voice having taken on an eager, excited tone. “Other bands do it, travel and perform together for years. There’s no reason we can’t, especially not if Damien and Kane get together. And with the way I’ve seen Bobby staring at James like he was a triple layer chocolate cake with marshmallows between the layers, I’d say something could develop there, if James happens to notice.”
“I wouldn’t count too much on that.”
“Why not?”
“’Cause there’s a twenty-year age gap, at least, James’ll never go for that.”
“Bobby’s the same age I am.”
“Bullshit.”
“Dead serious. He might look like he’s barely legal to buy beer, but he graduated from high school the same year I did.”
“Damn. Okay.”
“Besides, isn’t it up to them?” Tripp said.
“And I suppose touring together will just give them a nudge in that direction.”
“It could,” Tripp admitted. “Though the reason I’m pushing for it is so I never have to leave your side again.”
“That’s drifting pretty close to a marriage proposal.”
“Do you want it to be?”
“I do.”
“Then you’ll have to save that response for when the preacher asks it.”
