Never in my life had I reacted with such jealousy, losing my shit with a brother over a woman.
“Don’t piss me off, Exorcist,” I warned.
“Not hearing you say shit, brother. A club girl is fair game.”
Fuck. He was right.
Skyla pounded on my back, demanding I stop acting like a fool.
Too fucking late, baby.
“She’s not anymore,” I finally answered, refusing to elaborate.
“What? A club girl?” Ex asked, goading me. “Then what is she, Chaos? Huh?”
My words came out as little more than a growl. “She’s caring for my daughter—”
He snorted.
“—andme.”
Exorcist seemed to think that over. “Then her evenings are free.”
“No,” I hissed.
“You don’t own her. She ain’t your property which means I can take her to my room and—”
He never got to finish that sentence.
I tossed Skyla at Bodie, who managed to catch her in time, keeping a tight hold around her waist as my fist connected with Exorcist’s jaw.
He reacted fast, punching me in the stomach as I bent over, catching my breath. Another hit to my temple knocked me to my ass. If I hadn’t gotten drunk playing pool with Bodie, I wouldn’t be losing this fight. Exorcist knew that, chuckling as he hauled me to my feet.
Skyla called out my name, and I blinked, giving her a stupid grin. “Daniel!”
Exorcist gripped the back of my neck, staring into my eyes as I turned, focusing my inebriated gaze his way. “Brother, I know you’ve gone through some shit. Just tryin’ to help you figure out what you want.” He ticked his head toward Skyla. “She’s a good girl. I can see why you like her.”
I didn’t deny it.
“You lost your ol’ lady, and that almost fucking killed you, but it’s been five months. You’ve got a baby girl to raise. No one is gonna judge you for taking what you want. Hell, what youneed.”
“Then why you tryin’ to fuck my Skyla?”
His lips twisted upward. “That’s good to know, brother.”
Huh?
“Ain’t no one gonna touch her now.”
Confused, I didn’t know what he meant until I noticed my pres standing next to us.
“We all got your back, Chaos.”
Sighing, I knew I had said too much. My big fucking mouth spilled the truth when I asked Skyla not to say a word.
She stared at me, her eyes misting with tears. I didn’t know what upset her, but my Reaper didn’t like it.
I nodded to Grim and Exorcist before joining Skyla. Bodie released her as I reached for my girl, cupping the side of her face before I lowered my head and kissed her, not leaving any doubt about exactly how I felt.
