“It was not.”

“I’m literally sporting a boner right now.”

“Adam!” I hissed, trying my hardest not to look down. “Your family is in the next room.”

“And?”

When I didn’t answer, he took my hand to prove it.

My core pounded on impact. “Jesus, Adam.” I snatched my hand back from his firm bulge. “You need to sort that out before you go back in there.”

“Come upstairs with me.”

“We’re in the middle of dinner!”

Adam moved closer until his face was merely inches from mine. “Well, I’m ready for dessert.”

“Adam,” I whispered. “I’m not that kind of girl.”

His heated gaze begged to differ.

“Go fuck yourself,” I growled, pushing past him and my unrelenting desire. This man was infuriating.

As I marched back to the dining room, Adam’s laughter drifted up the stairs. “Like I have another choice.”

“What happened to you?” Grayson asked when Adam resurfaced ten minutes later.

“Cassidy sent me to my bedroom.”

His brother’s jaw dropped, along with mine.

“I’m joking.” He peeked over at my wild eyes. “There was something I needed to attend to.”

Grayson pursed his lips. “Are you done?”

Adam chuckled deeply as he returned to his chair. “For now.” He met my gaze as he lifted his wine.

“Good, because we’re heading to Melanie and Scott’s beach house later.”

Adam dragged his gaze to his brother. “So, the annual board game tournament continues. I guess I could make an appearance.”

Josie ran her fingers through her husband’s dark hair. “Grayson thinks he’s got a chance of winning this year because Melanie has baby brain.”

I giggled as I scooped another piece of pie onto my plate.

“What’s baby brain?” Adam asked, studying my amusement.

Josie jumped in. “When your brain temporarily turns into a pile of mush while pregnant.”

“Bullshit,” Adam muttered.

“It’s true,” Caroline chimed in, surprising us all. “I had it with both of you boys.”

“As did your grandmother,” Liam added. “When she was pregnant with Adam, she forgot her own birthday.”

“Don’t you meanWilliam?” Caroline tittered nervously while her husband grew pale.

“Oh, yes. My mistake.” Liam lowered his eyes. “It was so long ago my mind is playing tricks on me. Perhaps baby brain is contagious.”
