“Adam.” I knocked his shoulder. “You’d normally be on a bed for this, but this will do for now.”

“I could arrange a bed for our next session.”

“You’re unbelievable.” I endeavored to overpower the rising corners of my mouth. “Now, close your eyes and be quiet. I need to concentrate.”

“Is it going to hurt?”

“No.” I laughed. “But you may feel some heat, tingling, or pulsing through your body.”

His grin widened. “I like the sound of that.”

With a groan, I nestled my hands under his head and closed my eyes, taking in long deep breaths until a familiar tingle rippled through my body. “I said close your eyes.”

“Alright” He chuckled.

After a few minutes, I moved my hands over his shoulders, and his whole body stiffened. Energy flowed through me and into his body, nurturing every molecule of his being until his entire body relaxed under my touch.

As his breathing slowed, a rush of emotion poured into me, and my eyelids lifted in a dreamy haze. Adam’s lustful gaze stared back at me, pulling me in, and I mindlessly succumbed. My head tipped over his, crashing a wave of golden hair over his shoulders as I brought my lips to his mouth. It wasn’t until his hands wound through my hair to deepen the kiss that the spell broke.

I pulled away with a gasp. “How did you do that?”

Adam sat up while running his tongue over his bottom lip. “Do what? Kiss you?”

“No.” My mouth grew dry as I stared at him, full of trepidation. “You break through every shield, every protection. Our energies entangle, and I can’t decipher what emotions are yours and what are mine.” I shook my head as I stood. “This has never happened before.”

His hand grasped mine, pulling me between his legs. “Then let me help you figure it out.” He ran his fingers up and down my arm. “All I’ve been able to think about is kissing those fuckable lips…” He brought my bracelet-covered wrist to his mouth and dragged his tongue over my pulse. “And the rest of you.”

I stumbled backward. “No…this can’t happen.”

The corner of Adam’s mouth quirked upward. “But it already did happen.”

“Well, that was a mistake.”

Adam rose to his feet. “Maybe…” He closed the distance between us until my backside collided with the wingback chair. “But it’s one I intend on repeating,”—he dipped his head into the crook of my neck and kissed my delicate skin—“again”—then under my earlobe—“and again.”—before crashing down on my lips.

My mouth parted as his hands grasped my lower back, making his arousal clear. My mind turned to mush as his tongue encircled mine, wanting…needing… Or were those feelings mine?Fuck.

Fear shot through my body, and I shoved him away. “No.” I scowled. “This is my workplace, and I’m a professional. You need to stop.”

“It’s too late for that, Tiger.” He penetrated my soul with his stare. “All I can do now is slow down.”

As my mouth fell open, Adam flashed me a drop-dead-gorgeous grin before striding out of the room, leaving me panting helplessly in the dark.

“Good morning, Adam,” Liam said while I poured us a cup of tea. We’d just witnessed another beautiful sunrise.

My head shot up, and I spilled hot liquid all over the saucer.

“Morning, Gramps.” Adam’s smile widened as he spied me mopping up the mess in a fluster.

“I’m assuming by that smile that your parents are leaving?”

Adam chortled. “They are, but Cassidy is responsible for this grin.”

My eyes grew large as I glared at him. What a fucking prick.

“She did some of that voodoo that she does on you,” he continued. “And I slept like a baby last night.”
