A giggle floated from my lips as I peered over his shoulder. “Because I feel like a zoo attraction in here.”

“Oh.” He shifted his body to block the view of his curious colleagues. “Well, that’s because you’re the most beautiful creature in the room—and also the most dangerous.”

“Like a blue-ringed octopus?”

He chuckled. “Only when they’re about to strike.”

“And what’s my poison?”

His eyes drank every curve of my body until he reached my face. “Your smile.”

Said smile grew.

He grasped at his chest with a grimace. “Don’t.”

“Adam…” Fire surged into my cheeks as I peeked back at the swooning women and amused men sitting around the boardroom table, watching on. “You’re making a scene.”

His entire aura lit up with his smile. “A sappy, romantic scene? Or more of a rom-com scene?”

“Well, I guess that depends on what happens next.”

Electricity filled the room as Adam’s eyes locked onto my lips, but the moment he stepped forward, his foot collided with a wastepaper basket, scattering trash all over the office floor with a loud clash.

I covered my mouth as laughter spilled out. “Rom-com it is.”

His sparkling eyes lifted to mine. “Fuck it.” He slipped his hand around the small of my back and yanked my body against his. “I’ll save the sappy stuff for later.” As he encased my nape, he brought his lips to my smile and devoured what belonged to him.

The intensity of his kiss was like no other. With Adam’s heart, body, and soul in sync, his energy radiated through my being, and it was fucking incredible. Every hair stood on end, every nerve tingled, and I forced myself to pull away before I moaned for more.

“That was some kiss,” I puffed out, completely out of breath.

Adam curled my hair behind my ear. “I’ve been doing my research.”

“Oh yeah?” I laughed. “What romance novel has your attention now?”

“The most romantic…and eroticone yet.” He brushed his lips over mine. “And this is only page one.”

Epilogue

Adam

“Ithought I’d find you hiding out here.”

Cassidy opened her gorgeous emerald eyes and turned my way with a sleepy smile. “You know how I get at weddings.”

I sauntered over to the bench seat under the majestic elm and fell into the empty space beside her. “All this happiness must be exhausting,” I said, wrapping my arm around her tiny frame swamped in silk and my old Lakers hoodie.

She nudged my side with a smirk. “It is. And it’s worse because it’s all directed at us.”

My chest bounced up and down with my laugh. “I told you we should’ve eloped.”

“I know, but I wanted Finn to be a part of this—and our families. And this place.” She smiled up at Harlow Manor, then at the earth surrounding her bare feet. “This is where it all began.”

“Not exactly.” I nuzzled into the crook of her neck.

She giggled adorably as I nibbled. “Well, it’s the story we’re telling the kids, okay?”

A soft chuckle left my lips.Kids.I had never dreamed of having a family of my own. For years, I’d been content with living the bachelor life while my brother tackled the pressures of marriage. I never wanted more. I never needed more. My life was Harlow Corp., and damned if I was going to let anyone break my focus…until Cassidy. She shattered it to pieces.
