He slammed into me one last time before grasping my body as his pulsating length spilled into my core. “Happy fucking New Year, Cass.”

I released an exhausted chuckle. “We sure ended the year with a blast.”

He spun me around and pressed my body to the fogged glass. “Started, you mean.”

I peered into his eyes, believing his energy but still hesitant to give him my heart. “I think we need to get you out of these clothes.” I ran my finger over his collar, then through his damp hair. “You’re a hot mess.”

He kissed the perspiration off my shoulder. “Says you.”

I eyed his Californian King and grinned with anticipation. “Let’s take a shower before bed.”

“I suppose we can do that.” Adam pulled me toward the ensuite bathroom. “After I fuck you in it.”

“Adam… You can’t possibly be ready for another round.”

He whirled around and cupped my hand over his growing bulge. “Every position. Every surface. Just like our first night together.”

I swallowed.Holy shit.

This man was a beast. A sex god. I’d never been so thoroughly fucked in my entire life. At least this time I managed to evade the tears that had followed our first encounter.

“I thought you were mad at me,” I said after a long silence.

Adam’s fingers trailed up and down my arm as we stared out the window. “Why would you think that?”

“When we dropped Tristan off after the basketball game, your energy changed.”

“I was pissed you didn’t invite me to the barbecue.” He kissed the sensitive area behind my ear. “I had to hear about it from Tash.”

“But you had the ball…and I didn’t think it was your scene.”

“I wanted to spend the night with you, Cass. I didn’t care where we were.” He shifted my body so we were face to face. “I was starting to think this thing between us was all in my head…until I saw your reaction to Staci.”

I poked his chest. “Dick move, by the way.”

He grabbed my hand and kissed it. “What about you? Dressing like that.”

“What was wrong with my dress?”

“Absolutely everything”—he lay back with his hands behind his head—“if I wasn’t going to be there.”

I wrapped the bed sheet around my torso and sat cross-legged beside him. “I wanted to find out if someone frommy worldcould make me feel the way you do.”

“AndJameswas a candidate?” he asked, raising a brow.

“Maybe.” I shrugged. “I didn’t exactly get a chance to find out.”

Adam shifted his body up against the headboard and crossed his muscular arms. “He’s a pushy, self-centered, entitled little shit. But you would’ve known that within seconds with those empathic superpowers of yours.”

“I try not to judge people…”—I lifted my chin— “for a few minutes, at least.”

Uncertainty flickered through Adam’s aura. “If I hadn’t come, would you be with him right now?”

I dropped my gaze. “I think you know the answer to that.”

He grabbed my hand, demanding attention. “I’m not like you, Cass. I can’t read you like you read me. I need you to tell me how you feel.” His eyes bored into mine. “I need to know I’m not the only one feeling this way.”

“What do you want me to say?” I pulled my hand away as I blinked back tears. “That I’m in love with you?”
