He took my hand and moved it to his heart. “What about now?”
The overpowering wave of emotion stole my breath, rendering me speechless.
Adam lowered his gaze as I pulled away. “I’m complicated, aren’t I?”
“Yes.”
“Does that scare you?”
“Sometimes.”
The corner of his mouth lifted. “Maybe I need to redeem my Reiki session.”
“I think you just need to switch off for a while.”
“I don’t think I’m capable of relaxing.”
I ran my hand over his silky basketball shorts. “Is that so?”
Adam’s brow rose as a shaky breath left his mouth. “Jesus…” He slipped his hand around my nape as he pressed his forehead to mine. “That feels so fucking good.” He pulled my lips to his and kissed me hard while I pushed down his shorts.
Once his length was free, I pushed him against the door and sank to my knees.
“Cass…you don’t have t—oh my God.”
As I took him inside, I peered up to see Adam’s head fall back with a sigh. His jaw tightened while he ran his fingers through my hair, but he didn’t guide or push. He let me take control. It was something he wasn’t used to—but something he clearly needed.
“Oh, Cass,” he rasped moments before spilling his warmth into my mouth. “That was…incredible.”
With a newfound confidence, I lifted my gaze to his glassy blue eyes. “I guess my books are good for something, after all.”
“You learned that in a book?”
My smile grew as I rose. “I’ve learned lots of things.”
“Like what?”
I opened the door to leave. “You’ll have to wait and see.”

Adam chased me up the stairs. “I’ll message Grayson and tell him to occupy Finn a little longer.”
I spun around. “No. Whatever is happening between us doesn’t go any further while Finn’s at Harlow Manor. Plus, your entire family is here. You should be spending time with them.”
Adam scowled as he slowed at my door. “Will I at least see you at dinner?”
“After what just happened with your parents, I think I’ll get Max to send something to our room.”
“No.” His eyes snapped back to mine. “There’s no way I’ll…Grampswill allow that. You will be eating with us.”
“Adam…”
“If you’re not there, I’ll hunt you down and caveman-carry you to the table.”
“Fine,” I grumbled before the visual took hold. “Although, that does sound appealing.”
Adam’s eyes flared with heat. “Cassidy…”
