He lifted my chin to meet his dark gaze. “Then we have a problem, don’t we, Tiger?”

Tears of frustration ran down my face as I scrubbed off Adam’s delicious scent in the shower. Who knew how many women he’d been sleeping with back in LA? Every image I found on the internet featured his arm around a different woman, and it made me feel physically ill. As if he hadn’t fucked each and every one of them.

All the articles implied as much…notorious playboy, womanizer, lady killer…until one article took a new turn.

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS ADAM HARLOW?

Since Harlow Corp. acquired most of the Warren Media portfolio, Adam Harlow looks to have put aside his playboy ways to concentrate on the company, following his father’s retirement.

Since becoming the wealthiest man under 35 and the most eligible bachelor in the country, Adam appears to have become a recluse, disappearing for days on end, leaving the who’s who of women waiting for him to resurface.

After the recent marriage of his brother, William Harlow, to photographer Josie Spencer, high-society gossip suggests Adam may be tiring of his promiscuous ways and is finally ready to settle down with one lucky lady, rumored to be heiress Staci Warner.

As I settled back into bed beside Finn at almost 3a.m., the phone lit up on my bedside.

Adam: I know you don’t believe me. See attached.

With a frown, I tapped on the file to download a recent copy of Adam’s test results. A clean bill of sexual health.

Relief settled over me. It didn’t make what we did okay, but it was something.

Finn poked his head into Liam’s room while I read to him. “Come on, Mom! You have to get ready for the big race.”

Liam chuckled. “Oh, I can’t wait to hear about this.”

“Are you sure you don’t want me to stay and read some more? The silly race can wait.”

“I’m feeling quite tired today, so I think I’ll have a nap while everyone is downstairs.”

“Come on, Mom,” Finn cried out again. “Everyone’s waiting for you.”

With a sigh, I placed the book on Liam’s bedside table. “Fine. I’ll go get my swimsuit on.”

“Wonderful.” Liam grasped my hand with a tired smile. “You’ve brought new life into this house. Thank you.”

I gazed into his drowsy eyes. “Make sure you’re well rested for dinner tonight, or Mrs. Fredrich won’t let you downstairs.”

“Neither wild horses nor Mrs. Fredrich could stop me from sharing my last Christmas Eve dinner with my family.”

Finn marched into the room and grabbed my hand. “Let’s go!”

“Okay, I’m coming! Meet me downstairs.”

As Finn bolted down the hall, I reluctantly followed. I hadn’t seen Adam since our early-morning mishap, and I was dreading seeing him again—especially in the same place.

According to Josie, Adam had left early that morning to run some errands but said he’d be back before the race. I prayed for traffic or a work emergency, but it appeared nothing would hinder the embarrassment that was about to take place.

Loud cheers echoed off the tiles as I entered the pool room. The smiling faces of Finn, Grayson, Josie, Max. and some of the kitchen staff lined the walls.

“Oh my God.” I glared at my son. “You invitedeveryone?”

Finn grinned. “Liam wanted to come, too, but the cranky nurse wouldn’t let him.”

I scuffed up his hair. “Just wait until your next race, Mister.”

When I caught sight of Adam’s broad shoulders at the end of the pool, my heartbeat accelerated. His back was turned, and my gaze followed the muscular lines of his body as he performed his warm-up stretches.
