After introducing Finn to Grayson, and Harrison, and the staff at Harlow Manor, we spent the rest of the evening catching up alone. I wanted to hear every detail of his life over the past three months and find out what my dad had been feeding him. He’d grown two inches!

Max brought up our dinner, and we ate on our laps while watching a new-release movie on the flat-screen. It was a quiet night, but it was just what we needed to reconnect. We cuddled on the couch, and I relished every moment until his eyes began to droop.

“Come on, buddy. Let’s get you into bed. I’m not strong enough to carry you anymore.”

With a tired chuckle, Finn dragged himself over to the bed and climbed under the sheets. “Goodnight, Mom.”

“Goodnight, baby.”

As I climbed in next to him, I picked up my phone and scrolled to Adam’s number. I wanted to thank him for bringing my world to me, but no words could justify how I felt. I had to show him.

Before sunrise, I carefully climbed out of bed, threw on sweatpants and a tee, and kissed Finn’s forehead. “I’ll be back soon,” I whispered when he began to stir.

He responded with a sleepy nod and rolled over as I crept out of the room.

“I didn’t expect to see you this morning,” Liam said, smiling on my approach.

“I’m too excited to sleep.”

“I bet. You’ve been apart for some time.”

“Did you want to go to the library?” I asked, not wanting him to feel an ounce of guilt.

“My window will do today. I’m saving my energy for my great-grandson.”

“Big day planned?”

“Full of naps and pureed food. We’re quite the pair, Harry and I.”

With a belly full of laughter, I sat beside Liam’s bed as brilliant reds and pinks filled the sky.

Liam gazed at the glowing clouds. “It’s going to be a good day.”

“I think so too.”

Our long, blissful silence was gradually interrupted by the nearing sound of blades chopping the air.

“That must be Adam.”

My head snapped to Liam’s twinkling eyes. “He’s early.”

“Perhaps he was too excited to sleep also.”

I bit my bottom lip as my leg started to bounce.

Liam motioned to the door. “Go.”

“Are you sure?”

He chortled. “I’m always sure.”

“I won’t be long,” I uttered before my heartbeat raced my feet through the mansion.

As I burst out the front door, the wintery air slapped me across the face, reminding me to get the hell back inside and put on a coat. Not wanting to waste time, I grabbed Adam’s long winter jacket from the coat room and slipped it on before trying again.

The hammering in my chest matched the beat of the blades as I jogged around the mansion to the helipad. I had no idea what I was going to say, so I let my heart take charge.

Our eyes met through the window of the helicopter, but the strong winds forced me to lower my gaze as they touched down. I hugged my stomach and rubbed my arms as the blades slowed to a stop, and I slowly peered up once Tico stepped out of the cabin.
