She stood in front of him, and he used his free hand to push her bangs out of her face. She smiled, lighting up the room with her joy.
“What?” he asked, smiling.
“You like doing that, don’t you?”
With confidence he had never felt, Levi took Hannah’s face in his palm. When she nuzzled against it, he thought he might faint.
“I just want to see your charming face,” he said. “You are so beautiful, in case you didn’t realize it.”
They kissed softly to the tune of God bowling above their heads.
Levi wanted that night to be their every night until the very end of time.

HANNAH
“Are you seriously waking up this early?” Hannah grumbled, cuddling under his arm. She liked being so close and secure with him. She could hear his heart rate, and she liked the rhythm. It calmed her.
“Yes,” he said, rubbing a hand up her shoulder. “I have to. I won’t be gone all day. I’ll get what’s most important done, and I should be out by lunchtime.”
She frowned, looking at him. “You haven’t even eaten breakfast. Let’s at least eat breakfast together.”
She wondered when she became such a child. She certainly had never acted this way before.
“Trust me, I don’t want to get up, either.” Levi chuckled, giving her a kiss on the forehead. “I’ll eat something in my office. Besides, I figured you might like having your alone time.”
With that, he reluctantly slid out of Hannah’s reach and got up. He walked into his bathroom, and Hannah sighed. It was true, she did like her alone time, but she had been enjoying the closeness they shared.
After last night, she felt she was closer to him, and she wasn’t ready for them to start the day. She wanted to lie with him all day, maybe even into the night.
Hannah dressed and brushed her hair just in time to see Levi heading into his office. She gave him a wave and reminded him not to take all day.
She headed into the kitchen, starving from the night before. She’d worked up an appetite, but she didn’t want to sneak out to eat after Levi fell asleep. She opened the fridge, pulling out eggs and bacon.
She cooked since the chef was absent and looked at Levi’s house once more. It was quiet, and she wondered if she could ever get used to something like this. But she quickly shook the idea away. She couldn’t think about those things when Levi was still in danger.
She sat down outside to eat. The fresh air and sunshine felt great. She itched to run but suppressed it. She needed to stay here.
She sighed, feeling the breeze go through her hair and roll over her skin. She liked it. There were many things she found herself enjoying in the span of the past few days. She had fun at the restaurant playing games, and she enjoyed driving Levi’s cars fast. She enjoyedhim.
Her phone buzzed, grabbing her attention. She pulled it up, seeing a message from Nick. There was no new news on who was running the group that took Levi. They weren’t sure if the threat was still out there or not, and Nick reminded her to keep her eyes sharp.
She rolled her eyes. As if he needed to remind her of that. Hannah always had her eyes sharp. She’d found Levi, hadn’t she?
She stared at the message, hating that they’d found nothing. Hannah had killed people at that warehouse, but not all of them. Nick had picked up several survivors later. No progress on Levi’s case meant none of them had talked.
Hannah rubbed her eyes, frustrated. But she knew she needed to be patient. Cases like this weren’t solved in a matter of hours. She sent Nick a smartass response and set her phone down. Her eyes scanned the horizon once more, searching for threats. It was a never-ending job.
Hannah still had to be aware of everything going on around her. Just because they were in his house didn’t mean they were safe. Hannah had already dealt with a few problems.
She knew that the people who came by were probably normal, but she couldn’t take that chance. She was sure she pissed off the cook into wanting to poison her, and the delivery truck guy looked like he wanted to slit her throat.
But there had been other moments where she felt like they were being watched. The moments passed quickly enough, but the unease still lingered. She thought she saw something out of the corner of her eye once or twice, but Levi had told her there was no one there. Hannah wondered if maybe she was becoming paranoid.
She also blamed it on Levi. He’d flipped her entire world upside down, and he didn’t even know it. He was her mate, and everything he did set her loins on fire.
She thought about last night and how they had to restrain her. She knew how sweet Levi was, and she liked it. There weren’t many sweet guys out there in the world, but Hannah couldn’t be with someone she would always need to be so careful around.
