“Hi.” Noah tipped his chin at Kit before turning his attention to Keira. “There’s loads of space for your stuff.”

“Thanks,” she replied.

Noah looked from her to Kit. “Did I interrupt something?”

“Keira was asking how long I’ve been in love with Seren for.”

“Oh.” Noah grimaced. “I didn’t tell her.”

Keira’s eyes widened. “You’rein lovewith her?”

“Unfortunately, yeah.”

“How long have you been in love with her for?”

Noah tapped on the countertop. “It’s gotta be a couple of years now, right?”

“It’s more than two years since Dad’s funeral, so yeah, just over two years.”

“Since your dad’s funeral?” Keira asked loudly, over the noise of the kettle.

“Yes.” Kit leaned forward, dropping his elbows onto the counter. “Totally inappropriate, I know, but she was wearing this cute little black dress and she looked all sad and beautiful. After the service, she came over to me and squeezed my hand and it was like – bam! I was totally in love with her from that moment.”

“Oh my god!” Keira dropped her elbows to the counter, mirroring his stance.

He smiled at the shock in her features. “For a while I thought it was some sort of coping mechanism … you know, giving me something else to think about other than Dad …”

“But you’re still in love with her two years later?”

“Yeah.”

Keira craned her neck to look up at Noah. “You knew about this and didn’t tell me?”

“I can’t tell you my brother’s secrets.”

She instructed him to make tea before turning her attention back to Kit. “Does Seren know?”

“No! The only people who know are Noah and Trystan. And now you. Seren can’t find out.”

“Why not?”

“It would make things awkward.”

“But what if she feels the same?”

“She doesn’t,” Kit and Noah said at once.

Keira’s eyes bounced between them. “You can’t know that for sure.”

“It’s pretty obvious if you spend any time with the two of us. She speaks to me as though I’m about twelve and tends to ruffle my hair as though I’m a puppy.”

“Maybe that’s her way of flirting.”

Noah snorted a laugh. “It’s definitely not flirting.”

“Well, maybe she’s trying to hide her feelings because she’s worried about things being awkward.”

Kit sighed heavily. “While I wish that were true, it isn’t.”
