“I guess it would be rude not to.” Seren’s cheeks were starting to ache from smiling as they moved inside.
“Do you want to have lunch too?”
Seren checked her watch and was shocked at how much time had passed. They agreed they’d eat there and Seren said she’d grab a table since there weren’t many free. She instructed Kit to choose her something to eat.
“Can you get me one of those doughnuts for dessert?” she added, eyeing the display of mouth-watering treats.
He rolled his eyes and muttered about her sweet tooth as he walked away.
“I didn’t know what you’d fancy,” he said, when he arrived at the table with a tray of food and drinks. “I got a burger and a mac n cheese. Take whichever you want.”
“They both look good.” She helped to offload everything from the tray. “Shall we share?”
“Fine by me. And before you start complaining about dessert, I didn’t forget… they’ve got peanuts sprinkled on them.”
“All of them?” She craned her neck, not believing him.
“No.” He took a knife to cut the burger in half. “But they’re all in the same display case and they’re using the same tongs to serve them. Let’s not risk your life for your sugar addiction.”
“That’s annoying,” she said, but was touched by how careful Kit was about her allergy.
He tapped his glass of butterbeer against hers before taking a long swig. “That’s not what I was expecting.”
“I like it,” Seren remarked, setting it down and picking up a knife to cut the burger in half.
“Because it’s probably mostly sugar,” Kit said with a grin. “Do you still want a coffee, by the way? I can get you one if you want.”
“No. Just eat,” she instructed. “I completely forgot about being tired.”
Kit took a bite of the burger, then looked at Seren with amusement. “Being here’s really making me wish I’d read all of the books.”
Laughing, she gave his shin a soft kick. “You’ve only got yourself to blame for that.”
“That’s not true. I’d say it’s entirely your fault.”
“Hurry up and eat,” she said with a smirk. “We’ve still got more to see.”

The day with Seren couldn’t have gone better. Her bad mood from the previous day had vanished and her enthusiasm while she was surrounded by all things Harry Potter was infectious. Whatever awkward atmosphere had surrounded them before had been replaced by the usual banter and easy conversation. Kit wasn’t sure whether it was entirely a good thing. His emotions were on a rollercoaster, and he couldn’t decide whether the feelings were pleasant or not.
After dinner in a restaurant near Trystan’s flat, they moved to a cosy traditional pub around the corner. He’d messaged Trystan to tell him to join them but given how much Seren was yawning he was about to suggest calling it a day and heading home when he finally arrived.
“You’ve just made me feel very under-dressed,” Kit said as Trystan took a seat.
“You’re always under-dressed,” Trystan replied, looking down at his navy-blue shirt with a shrug. Pretty much everything Trystan owned was designer or tailor-made. “How was your day in the wizarding world?”
“Amazing,” they replied at once.
“I loved it,” Seren said. “We spent most of the day there and it absolutely flew by.”
“Told you it was good.” Trystan stretched his neck. “You weren’t embarrassed at being there without a kid?”
Kit flashed Seren a cheeky grin. “Seren was acting like an over-excited child all day so it was fine.”
“Ifeltlike an over-excited child,” she said, yawning again and finishing the last mouthful of her wine.
“I was going to suggest a nightclub and dancing,” Trystan said. “But you look as though you’re ready to drop.”
