“No. She’s taken a night off to have dinner with us.”

“Poor her, taking a night off and spending it at the place she works.”

He smiled. “Her uncle owns the place. It’s like a second home for Seren.”

Left alone, Keira basked in the view for a little longer, feeling the tension leave her as she watched the waves tickling the shore. She opened the window to get the noise of it before forcing herself away.

After lifting the suitcase onto the bed, she unzipped it and lifted the lid. A cold wave of panic seeped through her as she took in the sparse contents,. The stilettos made her feel like crying. Or curling up under the covers and refusing to move until it was time to go home again.

She was like the opposite of Cinderella; she had the fancy clothes but no ball to attend.

Chapter Ten

With her heart beating furiously, Keira picked up her phone and called Mel, who answered after a couple of rings.

“Are you there already?” she asked in amazement. “How fast are private jets?”

“There was no private jet.” She wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry at her predicament.

“How did you get there then?”

“I’m on Scilly. Not Sicily …Scilly!I’d read his message wrong.”

“Scilly? Like the Scilly Isles?”

“The Isles of Scilly actually, but whatever.”

“I hate to sound completely ignorant but geography was never my strongest subject. Where the heck are the Isles of Scilly? Are they off Scotland?”

“Cornwall.”

“Seriously? Wait a sec … Oh my god! I’ve just Googled it. You should see the pictures. It looks like the Caribbean.”

“I know. That’s my view from the window. It’s unbelievable. I have no idea how I didn’t know about this place before. It’s incredible.”

“That’s where Noah’s family live then?”

“Yeah.”

“So they’re not mega rich and stuck up?”

“No. I met his mum and his brother and they’re really down to earth. We’re having dinner in the local pub.”

“That might be better than the scenario we concocted.”

“Yes. I just have one small problem. Do you remember what clothes we packed for me?”

“Oh crap!”

“Exactly.” She walked back to the window. “I can’t go in the local pub in your black dress and stilettos.”

“Can you dress it down?”

“How would I do that? I don’t have a lot to work with. And I can’t go in what I wore today because I spilled Coke down myself.”

Mel snorted a laugh. “White really isn’t your colour.”

“What am I going to do?” Keira whined.
