Iwas pissed when Link told me that Bryce cornered Fallyn.
Because Bryce was an asshole who cost me an incredible developer, and made life miserable for multiple people at AcesPlayed. That was the only reason, regardless of what the low growl in the back of my head, the voice that snappedmine, seemed to think. My reaction had nothing to do with Fallyn specifically.
It didn’t matter now. The day was over, Link and I were almost to my place, the Chinese food we’d picked up smelled incredible, and we were going to unwind together.
As we were pulling into my driveway, the headlights of my car flashed across a lone figure walking up the path, and highlighted the stark red and black of Fallyn’s outfit, and the coat she wore over it. She looked good in that outfit. Incredible even. And I’d be dreaming for a long time about getting her off while she wore it.
I pulled the car up next to her, and she paused, but didn’t look at me. “Need a ride?” The teasing question slipped past my lips, sounding a lot more fun than whatever I’d been about to say instead.
“Hardly seems worth your time.” Her voice was flat.
If she wanted to see me as an emotionless fuck, I wasn’t going to oblige. I was going to let her see I had a heart, even though she’d never have any part of it. “We’re hanging out. We have more than enough food. If you want to join us and sayhito King in the process.”
“We?” She finally turned.
“Hello.” Link waved from the passenger seat.
Her faint smile made part of me roar in protest, and I silenced the response.
She waved back. At him. “Hi. Sure. I could join you. But really, I’ll walk. It’s only a few feet away at this point.”
“Suit yourself.” I parked the car, and Link and I met her outside at the front door.
I let us in, and the bark that had already become familiar greeted us. King bounded across the room, away from Mrs. Ria. Instead of heading for me though, he yipped at Fallyn and jumped up on her legs.
When she laughed and reached for him, he ran away, up to me, and barked to be picked up.
I grabbed him from the floor. “You little traitor,” I murmured affectionately. His response was to lick my face.
“He really is king of the house already, isn’t he?” Link laughed.
It was true.
Link led Fallyn further into the house, and I paused to talk to Mrs. Ria. She assured me King had been an angel, and that nothing had gone wrong today.
She’d gotten the estimate from the contractors, for fixing the pipes and repairing the damage in the guest house, but most of them didn’t recommend doing the work in this weather. No one needed the place right now anyway, so I’d wait until spring to have things repaired.
I thanked her profusely for all her work, insisted she let me pay her a bonus, and sent her home for the night.
When I found my guests in the rec room, Link was already setting takeout boxes, chopsticks, and forks on the coffee table, and Fallyn had joined him. Did I have a perfectly good table to eat at? One in the kitchen, one in the dining room.
Was part of me still in my early twenties and loved eating in front of the TV? Absolutely. Didn’t matter that we weren’t going to turn it on. It felt rebellious.
“I hope you like it hot,” Link was saying.
Fallyn had shed her coat and looked even more delectable now that it was just the three of us and we had all night. I liked watching Link fuck her. Definitely something I’d do again.
“There are so many ways I could take that,” she said.
There are so many ways I could take you. No need to let that thought out.
Fallyn grabbed a pair of chopsticks, snapped them apart, and snagged a fire chili off the top of the kung pao chicken. She never flinched. “I think I can handle it.” Her voice was a dangerous blend of challenging and shy, and her posture matched.
Okay,thatwas hot.
