If possible, his eyes darkened. “You won’t regret it.”

Then he was moving away from her. She blinked, grabbing the wall to steady herself. He opened a cupboard beneath the sink and withdrew a packet of dog treats. Her gaze flew to the dogs lined up on their beds against the wall, and her cheeks heated. She’d forgotten they were there, and they’d nearly gotten quite a show. They watched, ears pricked, until he called them over. He tossed a handful of treats outside and closed the door after they scuttled out.

“Will they be okay out there?” she asked, concerned they might wander off.

“They’ll be fine. They won’t go far.” He set the bag down and moved toward her with predatory grace. “On the bed.”

She blinked, confused. “Huh?”

He swallowed, his throat rippling, and she couldn’t help but stare at the taut cords of his neck, fascinated. “I want you on my bed.”

“Oh.” Her knees went weak, and she didn’t realize he’d backed her to the bed until the mattress hit her thighs. She sat.

“Take off your jeans.

She undid her zipper, and shimmied out of them. Embarrassment churned her stomach when she remembered she’d left all of her nice underwear behind at the apartment she’d shared with Charles and, in a fit of defiance, had only brought comfortable granny panties with her.

“Keep going,” he croaked, and it took her a moment to realize he wanted her to strip off the underwear, too.

Feeling shy, she did as he asked. “Like that?”

“Mmm.” He made a sound of approval deep in the back of his throat, and if she hadn’t already been wet, that sound would have done it. “Lie back.”

She did, and he sank to his knees before her, spreading her thighs. She squeezed them together, and he chuckled.

“This isn’t going to work if you don’t open for me,” he said. “Do you want me, or don’t you?”

“I do.” She eased the muscles of her legs, feeling exposed.

He wedged his shoulders between them and she rose up on her elbows to watch as he lowered his mouth to her. His tongue flicked out, touching her sensitive flesh, and she gasped, her hips bucking. His forearms landed heavily on her legs, pinning them down.

“Easy,” he soothed. “Easy.”

Dropping her head to the bed, she sighed as the flat of his tongue stroked down her center. She stared at his inked forearm where it contrasted with the luminous white of her skin, and for some reason, seeing those swirling lines, being reminded of exactly who it was that had his mouth on her, made her want to scream with joy. So she did. His lips curved against her, and she shivered. But then she promptly forgot about anything except the sensation of his beard on the inside of her thighs, and his mouth as he loved her.

He wound her higher and tighter, encouraging her with gruff sounds of need as he gave her what she desperately wanted. Her back arched from the bed, and the way she pressed herself to him should have embarrassed her, but she was beyond that. He’d turned her into a senseless puddle of desire, and she adored every minute of it. She’d never been able to let loose like this before. Not with Charles, not with anyone. Tione brought out the vixen in her, and she raked her fingers through his thick hair, relishing the way his entire body shivered in response.

Then he slipped a finger inside her, and she was lost. Pleasure pulsed through her, unlike anything she’d ever experienced. She sobbed aloud, her hips collapsing to the bed, spasms wracking her body.

“Omigod,” she whispered, wondering why her cheeks were wet. “Oh. My. God.” The heaving of her chest slowed as she caught her breath, and she wiped the moisture from beneath her eyes and grinned at the ceiling. “I think you’ve ruined me for all other men.”

The bed dipped, then his face appeared above her. He was smiling crookedly. “In a good way?”

She kissed him, unsure what the protocol was when a man had just given her the best orgasm of her life. “Yes, in a good way.” She released a heavy breath. “Phew, I’m exhausted.”

One of his eyebrows shot up. “You’reexhausted?” he teased. “Who do you think was doing all the work here?”

He settled onto his elbows, and she couldn’t take her eyes off him. Where was the sullen guy she’d met that first night? This man smiled down at her as if he’d like nothing more than to gather her in his arms and keep her there forever. Her heart gave an extra thump.

“You shouldn’t look at me like that,” she murmured. “You’ll give me ideas.”

He brushed her hair back from her forehead, and kissed her temple. “Maybe I want you to have ideas.”

Her heart lodged in her throat. Was he saying what she thought he was? She felt a crinkle form between her brows.

“Stop thinking so much,” he told her, kissing the tip of her nose. Perhaps it was the afterglow from her orgasm, but the simple sweetness of it nearly undid her. She bit her lip, and tried not to cry. That would be a surefire way to ruin the mood. “Climb into bed,” he continued. “I’ll let the dogs in, then I’ll spoon the hell out of you.”

“But—” Surely she ought to do something in return. The massive erection brushing her stomach hadn’t gone unnoticed. He was turned on, and needed relief.
