“Yeah, she’s going to need something else for trick-or-treating.”
I take a step forward, but my phone rings. Gunner shoves me back, laughing, and steals our wife away, calling us slow-pokes. But I’m not about to ignore Miles. I head to the balcony and answer the phone.
“Is there a problem?”
“No. The kids would like to say goodnight,” Miles assures me. “Link’s refusing to go to bed at all until he talks to one of you.”
“Put him on.” I smile.
“Daddy?”
“How was movie night?” I ask.
“I wanna come home. I don’t want more nightmares. Where’s Mommy?” He asks.
“Piccolino,” I croon. “we are going to see you in the morning. I promise. Grandma and grandpa are going to keep the nightmares away.”
“How do you know?”
“Because they did it for Mommy. They can do it for you too. Do you have your nightlight?”
“Si.”
“Good. That will help. Ti voglio bene.” I tell him.
“I love you too, Daddy.”
“Be good for grandma and grandpa. Buona Notte.”
“Buona Notte. Tell Mommy I love her.”
“I will.”
With that, we hang up. I put a hand to my heart. Now that I know my children are safe and happy, I can have some shameless fun. I weave through the growing party, take the drink I’m offered, shoot it back and hunt for my wife.
Nick has his arm wrapped around her, but I smirk. I’m stealing her away from him. I nod once to Chase and he distracts Nick enough that I manage to steal Sophie. She squeaks as I pull her against me, then spin her under my arm and into a dance.
She rolls her body against mine and we move together as the heat builds between us. I kiss her hungrily, then kiss her cheek. She giggles. “What was that for?”
“Our son asked me to tell you that he loves you.”
“Oh, Roman.” She kisses me. “He called. Is he okay?”
“I took care of it. He’s excited to see us tomorrow.”
Sophie holds onto me as we dance together. I can’t get enough of her, touching her, the way she smells, and how she feels in my arms. Gunner wraps his arms around her from behind and she grins.
“All my husbands right here.”
“Having fun together.” Gunner winks at me. “Maybe more than fun later.”
I hook my finger in one of the lines of her fishnet and break it. Sophie gasps. “Roman!”
“Nothing you’re wearing is surviving until morning.”
The party is mayhem. Once Holden steals Sophie away, I notice Valerie making out with Hunter and realize why the guys were so excited about her outfit. She’s a vampire victim, bitemarks drawn all over her, wearing something that might as well be lingerie.
Hunter grabs Valerie’s ass, but she twists away and taps his chest. “The game isn’t over yet, Krolik.”
