“You’re wasting taxpayer’s time coming here. You know it.”

“Doesn’t stop the fact we’ve got to rule you out, Duke.”

“Fuck you.” His father spat on the ground, and within seconds, he was arrested and shoved into a cop car.

“Stop it,” Holly said. “Just fucking stop it!” She stepped up to the cop. “Go ahead. Go and search. Why don’t you boysgo and have some cake while you’re at it? But you won’t find anything.”

No, they wouldn’t. Matthew knew that because he’d cleaned the place up, and unless the guys had been dirty slobs in the last twenty-four hours, the place was spotless.

Kid and Rick stood beside him. He watched as the cops entered. Landon, Pie, and Brass, followed behind. Pike and Raoul would only cause trouble, so picking the three somewhat easygoing men was the best choice.

Holly ran her fingers through her hair, and Mary walked up toward her and wrapped her arms around her.

With the noise, he watched as Maria came out of the club carrying her little girl, Tanya. Eliza was there with Brass as he helped with their twin sons.

The clubhouse was a safe haven for the Trojans MC families. In recent years, the guys loved having their women and their kids around them, always close at hand.

Seeing this angered Matthew. He wanted to pummel their fucking faces in. His dad was trying to find the source of the problem while the cops were wasting time. That was what they were doing.

Not everyone was at the clubhouse. Some of the old ladies had other jobs outside of the clubhouse.

Mathew didn’t know how much time had passed, ten minutes, twenty, an hour, possibly two, when they came out of the clubhouse with nothing.

The guys who had ended up handcuffed were being moved toward the car.

Tension mounted as a bike entered the clubhouse parking lot, and Matthew saw it was Preach.

He climbed off his bike and stepped toward the cops. He was bigger than all of them. The menacing look on his face as he moved toward the sheriff was clear. “You have no authorityhere,” Preach said.

“We’re doing our duty.”

Preach didn’t move, and he watched as the sheriff seemed to be shitting his pants. What the fuck was all that about?

“You want to play this game, little boy, we’ll play? But trust me, you’re not going to like the outcome.”

The sheriff cleared his throat and then snapped his fingers. “We, er, let them go,” he said.

“Sir?”

“I said let them go.”

Preach reached out and grabbed the handle of the sheriff’s car, opening the back, and Duke stepped out.

Within minutes, all the cops climbed into the car, and they were off their property. The moment they were, Matthew watched as Holly ran to Duke, wrapping her arms around him.

She was visibly shaken.

One by one, all of the men went to their women, the ones that were there.

“They trashed the place,” Landon said. “It’s a fucking mess.”

Matthew started to move forward, and he entered the main clubhouse room to see tables had been turned over. Bottles of booze had been smashed as well. He’d spent freaking hours cleaning this room, and this was what they did?

A fresh wave of anger swept over him as he looked around him at the carnage. Then, without a single complaint, he grabbed a broom and got to work at cleaning the shit up.

****

“What’s going on?” Mary asked Pike.
