One hand dipped between my legs, ghosting over my core through my sleep shorts. “What about here?”

I fought the urge to moan as sparks danced through my nerve-endings. “Guess you’re just going to have to find out.”

Calder’s eyes heated, that golden amber starting to glow. “Are you trying to kill me?”

“Not before I have my way with you.”

He chuckled and then launched me back onto the mattress. I landed with a whoosh of air leaving my lungs. Calder toed off his boots as he strode towards the bed. Then he pulled off his t-shirt, tossing it to the floor. His jeans were next. Then those black boxer briefs.

The man could’ve been a statue carved from marble at a major museum. All of those dips and curves on display for me alone had me swallowing. “You’re beautiful, you know that?”

His stride stuttered and then he grinned. “I’ll take that as a compliment coming from you.”

“You are.” But it wasn’t just his muscled form. It was everything that lay beneath. His protectiveness. Care. Dedication. Kindness. It was all mixed together to make something that was uniquely Calder.

He bent over me, brushing his mouth against mine. “I’ve got nothing on you.”

He trailed his lips down my neck to my chest. “You’re this explosion of light in a world that’s mostly gray. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Calder’s lips found my nipple, pulling it into his mouth and sucking deep. I nearly bowed off the bed.

“Calder.” It was a whisper and a plea.

“Yes?”

“Need you.” I hadn’t said those words to anyone in years. I’d made it my mission to become as self-sufficient as possible in the hopes of never being let down. But now, I needed Calder more than I needed my next breath.

“I’ve got you,” he whispered against my skin.

In a flash, he pulled my tank top off and shorts down, letting them fall to the floor. When I was completely bare to him, it was more than simply my skin on display. It was my soul. I showed him everything and hoped he would stay.

His fingers trailed up the inside of my thigh. “This is beauty. Never really knew true beauty until I saw you, just like this.” He stroked my center, delving in, teasing and toying.

Warmth spread through my limbs and pooled low in my core. “Calder.”

“Love my name on your lips.”

My legs hooked around his hips, pulling him closer to exactly where I wanted him.

“Shit,” he muttered. “Condom.”

“I’m on the pill. There hasn’t been anyone since my last checkup.”

His gaze bored into mine, all sorts of silent questions. “I’d never risk you if I didn’t know for sure I was clean. You’re sure?”

I had no idea how long this would last. I might only have Calder for one night. If that was the case, I wanted to feelallof him. “I’m sure.”

His tip bumped against my entrance, and my back arched in silent request. Calder pushed inside, achingly slow. The stretch was just shy of pain. He groaned as I fully enveloped him, then stilled as he gave me time to adjust.

Calder’s lips found mine. The kiss was so tender, it nearly hurt. Slow and deep. As he pulled away, he whispered, “Never felt anything better than this.”

My eyes burned. “Me, either.”Completenesswasn’t the correct word, but there was a simplerightnessto it. The way truth felt when you discovered it for the first time.

My hips began moving of their own volition, rocking back and forth and creating delicious friction. Calder started to move. He glided in and out of me, slowly picking up speed. His thumbs brushed across my nipples, teasing and toying.

The cascade of sensations had my body crying out for more. I arched into Calder, bringing him deeper. The movement had him hitting a spot inside me that made light dance across my vision. My fingers dug into his broad shoulders. “I’m not going to last.”

Calder thrust impossibly deeper, my walls tightening around him. “Hell.”
