“You think you’re all done?”

I crack my eyes open and quirk my brows. Fox shoots me this sinful look that sends a shiver down my spine as he smooths a hand up my side.

“Just because I came doesn’t mean I’m finished giving you orgasms, baby. Gonna keep fucking your pussy with my tongue while I finger your ass until my cock is ready to go again. I want you to be a filthy mess for me, little daisy.” He bends over to kiss my hips, punctuating his next words with teeth and tongue. “Every. Single. Inch.”

Air leaves me in a rush and I don’t get the chance to respond before he does exactly what he promised. And after, when he enters me

in one smooth thrust, he cradles me close until our bodies become one.

Sitting up in bed later, I suck on my swollen lower lip. It’s tender from the hours Fox spent kissing me long and slow and unrelenting while I shook apart in his arms countless times until I didn’t have another orgasm left in me. He’s sprawled on his front beside me, one arm thrown possessively over my lap. We haven’t stopped touching since we got back to the warehouse. He’s worn out from how many rounds we just went.

“We have to get my dad out of office at least,” I say.

He makes a barely audible sound, cracking an eye open to study me. “Are you sure?” He rubs my hip. “We could just let it all go. I have the answers, whether I wanted them or not. These people pulling the strings are dangerous. Fuck them.”

“Yes, fuck them. That’s my point.”

He must see the determination in my expression because he drags himself up, curling around me so I’m resting against his chest. I hold onto the forearm banded across my chest and twist to see him.

“I don’t want this town run by corruption. My friends will still live here when we leave. My brother still lives here.” His chest moves with his sigh. “I can’t stand that the person who is supposed to protect everyone and uphold the law is as dirty as the criminals he’s arresting. I don’t care if he’s my dad. We can still make some of this right.”

“So you still want to tangle with a criminal organization and a corporate drug operation?”

My lips press together. This is what we have to do. It might have started as Fox’s crusade, but now his war is mine. I’ll see it through until the end.

“Don’t you? We can’t run away yet.”

His fingers thread through my hair. “It’s not running if it’s what we want.”

“It is what I want, but we can’t go to California without doing something about it first. Not when we know what they’re doing.”

His expression darkens, but he nods. “You’re right. So, we do this, then we go?”

“Yes. No one else is going to stop them.”

We might be young, but we’re the only ones willing to do something to uproot the corruption in Ridgeview.

The warehouse is more crowded than I ever expected with Maisy’s friends here to help. I was wary of letting more people into my circle, but she trusts them and I trust her. They showed up this morning and took over the space that didn’t really feel like home until Maisy came to stay with me.

“Listen, you crow bastard,” Connor Bishop snarks, stabbing a finger at his laptop where he’s working with Colton over FaceTime with the video connection off. “You can’t tell me you prefer clickjacking attacks over trojans. You just can’t. Not after you were an asshole and infiltrated my shit.”

They agreed to combine their tech skills to pin down the money trail we need to follow once and for all to connect Stalenko Corp to Richard’s promotion. It turns out that Colton knew Connor and his wife better than we thought. They were tangled in the same mess that brought Wren and the Crows here last year as he hunted down the bastard that took his sister away from him.

“Just admit it’s better!” Colton laughs over the call. “Your firewall had a nice sized hole in it and I put my dick there. It was more than a year ago, get over it.” Connor sputters, but Thea brings him a piece of the cake she brought with them and he forgets to be angry because he has eyes only for her. She kisses his head. “Now quit trying to distract me with your opinions, peasant, and let the master work.”

“Master?” Connor scoffs playfully with one arm around Thea. “Bro, you couldn’t even crack this rotating cryptographic encryption sequence until you had my help just now.”

“Play nice,” Thea says.

“Listen to your little cutie, Bishop.”

Thea stops his growl with a kiss.

“Was it the smartest idea to let those two become friends?” Maisy murmurs to me as she takes a marker I was using to write on a white board. “They seem…”
