Jenna blew out a breath. “I thought of that, which is why I didn’t mention it, but now I’m thinking maybe we should follow one of the trucks.”
Paris chuckled. “I have the feeling we’d be spotted after a few hours.”
“You’re probably right.”
The server carried over their beers. “Food will be right up.”
As soon as Paris took a sip, the hairs on her arms rose up.
“What’s wrong?” Jenna asked. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost?”
It would sound stupid to say a werewolf walked in, because the place was crawling with them. She glanced over at the entrance, and her breath caught. Two tall, well-built, and incredibly virile shifters strutted in. Both were wearing well-fitting jeans and expensive looking boots. The one with the lighter hair had on a tight, khaki-colored T-shirt that showed off his chest very nicely. He also had a line of tattoos on his right arm. While it appeared as if he hadn’t shaven in a few days, it was a good look for him. The other man was clean shaven and carried himself with a confident air. His white button-down shirt was freshly pressed and looked expensive.
Jenna touched Paris’ arm. “Hey, girlfriend. You’re staring.”
Paris refocused. “No, I’m not.”
Jenna chuckled. “Yes, you are. If I weren’t married, I’d be staring too.”
Paris lowered her head. “Where are they now?”
“I have never seen you like this. They are about to sit at the bar. I don’t recognize either of them.”
“Me neither. They must be passing through.”
“I wonder what they are doing in Ames?” Jenna asked.
“After they leave, we should ask the bartender. I bet he’ll find out.”
Jenna dipped her chin. “Bartenders are like priests. They have a code of ethics not to reveal what is discussed.”
“Forget I said anything. I’m here with you. I’m not looking to hook up with a guy, even if he is gorgeous.” It didn’t matter that her body was sizzling with unwanted desire.
“Maybe not, but weren’t you the one who said we could use some help? These two hunks might be interested in a job.”
Paris could afford to hire a few people because she rarely spent her salary, though that hadn’t always been the case. After working two jobs for most of her life, her mom had found a nice human to settle down with, so Paris didn’t have to support her anymore.
“I’m not walking up to two strangers and asking them if they would be willing to uncover some corporate corruption.”
“Why not?”
“Who’s to say they aren’t recent hires at Harrison Industries to root out any unrest? If they aren’t, I bet they’ll be leaving in the morning. No one comes to Ames to sightsee.”
Jenna laughed, then quickly sobered. “Don’t look, but the men are staring at us!”
Great. The last thing she wanted was to attract their attention. Besides, they were werewolves, and Paris was very leery of them.

Rider elbowed Grayson. “Close your mouth. Your sharpened teeth are showing.”
Oh, shit.Grayson turned back around and waved to the bartender.
The young man came over and wiped down the counter in front of them. “What can I get you two?”
“I’ll have a lager on tap,” Grayson said.
“Whiskey, neat for me,” Rider added.
