When she finished, Paris carried out her large and small suitcase. Grayson jumped up. “I’ll take those.

She smiled. He was such a gentleman.

"How about I take the photo of the loving couple? It will seem more realistic if it's not in a motel room."

"Good point." They'd have to take it at some point. Paris looked around. "How about we stand in front of the fireplace?"

It wasn't lit, but the decorations on the mantel would provide a good background.

"Great. Stand together and look like you're a couple," Grayson directed.

Because Rider looked as if the experience was painful, none of the shots came out. "You need to smile," she said. "Come on. We don't have all day. This is for the job, not for real."

He nodded. "Got it."

Facing her, Rider placed a palm on her check, leaned in close, and smiled. Her heart beat way too fast, and now she was probably the one with a strange expression on her face.

"Perfect," Grayson said. "I can pick up a frame tomorrow."

"I have one." Paris rushed to her room, took out the photo of her and Jenna and returned. "Will this work?"

Grayson smiled. "Absolutely."

Once she locked up, she slipped into the back seat of their car. Paris wanted to set the expectations straight from the beginning. This was not her moving in with them but rather derailing Doug.

The trip to the motel only took a few minutes. Once Rider parked, Grayson helped her with her luggage and walked her to Rider’s room.

She stilled. They said she could be by herself, yet someone’s stuff was still there.

“I’ll pack up my things,” Rider said. “We had no idea that Doug would be stalking you.”

That made sense. “I can rent another room if it will make it easier,” she offered.

“We like that we’ll be next door,” Rider said. “This room has a king bed whereas Grayson’s room has two queens.”

Grayson placed her luggage next to the bed. “We have a suggestion but feel free to say no.”

Paris faced them. “What is it?”

“Give me a second. I’ll be right back.”

He left and Rider moved closer. “Grayson’s company developed, in conjunction with an electronics firm, a product that can help us track someone.”

“Do you mean like the camera I put on Doug’s car?”

“Not quite.” He moved closer and clasped her shoulders.

Heat from his touch set off a cascade of desire.Damn. What was wrong with her? It must be the whole Doug Peterson thing. “Then what?”

Rider lowered his hands. “I’m not good at explaining things. I’m really not trying to be a jerk and scare you, but I don’t trust Doug Peterson.”

“Neither do I.”

“Having been in the military, I’ve seen my share of bad things happen.”

Now he was scaring her. “Can we skip the buildup?”

He actually cracked a smile. “We’d feel a lot better if you would wear a tracking device.”
