“That may be, but Doug will know when you’re home—alone—even though you basically told him that Rider was your boyfriend.” Grayson looked at the ceiling. “Though why not say I was the boyfriend?”

His dramatic flair made her laugh. “Rider was standing closest to me.”

“I’d rather believe that than another explanation,” he said.

Paris’ cell rang. “It’s Jenna.” She answered it. “Yes?”

“I couldn’t find anything, but when Dan comes home, I’ll have him double check. Remember, though, I never went to Doug and mentioned I was suspicious of any misconduct.”

She had a point. “Thanks for looking.”

“What are you going to do?” Jenna asked.

“That’s what the three of us are discussing now.”

“Just be careful.”

“Always.” Paris disconnected and then faced them. “You probably heard. No camera.”

“I don’t think it matters,” Rider said. “Doug Peterson is dangerous. The reason is unclear, so you need to act nice and professional around him.”

Her mouth opened. “I always do.”

“I’m sure you do.”

“I have an idea,” Grayson said. “I should take a picture of you and Rider. We’ll frame it, and you can put it on your desk at work. It will make the boyfriend-girlfriend ruse look more legitimate.”

“Do you think that will dissuade Doug?” she asked.

“I’m hoping, assuming he was the one who put the camera on your car. Again, we’re basing this on the fact he might be the jealous type.”

“That could work, but how about I just turn him into Human Resources. I'll say he was harassing me.”

Rider shook his head. “You have no proof. It would be his word against yours.”

“You’re right. Maybe I should try the motel thing for a bit—and the photo—but I’ll have to do some packing.”

“I’m okay with that. We'll follow you to your house. If Doug is watching, he’ll see the three of us go inside and then leave with some suitcases. If he asks you—though I don’t know how he could without giving away he was watching you—tell him you decided to move in with me,” Rider said.

“After having just met you?”

Grayson grinned. “Tell him that Rider is your mate, and that you just knew the two of you were destined to be together.”

Paris rolled her eyes. “I don’t believe in mates. That’s a farce perpetuated by men to get women to do what they want.”

Both men whistled. “I know your dad did a number on your mom, but not all men are like that. But hey, if you don’t want to take us up on our offer, that’s your choice,” Grayson said.

They really were giving her the option, which she appreciated.

Shirley delivered their meals. “Thanks, Shirl.”

Wanting to think through everything before she committed to this move, Paris delved into her salad. The image of Doug following her to the diner and then having the balls to sit across from her, really pissed her off.

“Paris?” Grayson said.

She looked up. “Yes?”

“What did that salad do to you?”
