“The old me would say that I should go out every day after work and practice, practice, practice, but I’d only be kidding myself. It would take years to become that proficient.”

“So, we’re going to let the men do the work?”

“I think they, along with some others, should be the ones to go after those delivering the drugs, but we can help by providing information. We need to keep our eyes and ears open. That’s all.”

Jenna blew out a breath. “Okay, I can do that.”

“Thank you.”

“When are you going to see him again?” she asked.

“I don’t know. We exchanged contact information, but it was clear it would be best if he spent his time researching rather than teaching me to shoot.”

“Cool. So, what was your reaction to him? I know you liked Grayson. Was Rider as sexy?”

Paris dropped down onto the bed. “I think more so, and that bothers me. I can’t explain it. He’s a werewolf, and you know what I think of them.”

“You might not believe in mates, but you believe in love, right?”

Paris laughed. “I met them last night. Love has nothing to do with anything.”

“Okay, but you can't tell me that you aren't physically attracted to both of them.”

This was Jenna, her best friend. If she couldn’t be honest with her, who could she be honest with? “I am.”

“You’ve been in ménage relationships before. What’s one more?”

Paris hadn’t been with anyone since moving to Ames, because she’d been so focused on taking down Richard Delancey. “I guess, but Rider and I already discussed it. No sex, no kissing, no nothing.”

Jenna laughed. “Seriously? You’re already to that point? He must be a goner, not that I can blame him.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I know you saw how both of the men reacted to you. Their eyes flashed gold, and the hair on their faces thickened for a moment. I know you don’t believe in mates, but who’s to say they don’t?”

Jenna was being ridiculous. “It doesn’t matter what they think. I am here to find out who is responsible for the drugs.” Though if Richard Delancey weren’t guilty, she might let the police or these newcomers take over.

“I agree, but it seems to me that you need them. What better way to assure they’ll keep you in the loop than to spend time with them. If they fall for you, you’ll have a better chance at success.”

“I’m not like that. That’s deceitful.”

“So is selling cocaine that kills,” Jenna said.

She had a point. “Agreed, but I’m sure the three of us can come to an agreement that doesn’t involves lies. To your point, I do think the men are attractive. If I fall into bed with one of them in order to relieve the tension from these past few months, then so be it, but when we find out who is behind the drugs, I’ll kiss the men goodbye.”

Jenna laughed. “Perfect.”

“You don’t think I can just walk away, do you?”

“Nope.”

“When the time comes, I’ll show you.”

“You do that. What’s the plan for tomorrow?”

Paris hadn’t thought that far ahead. “I work tomorrow, but Rider has my number. If he needs my help, he’ll call.”

“Well, let me know if he does.”
