It’s overshadowed by a streak of raw possessiveness.

She and I are sitting at my round table, snug next to each other. A gallon of vanilla ice cream is open in front of us, and the skillet of peach cobbler is laid out next to it. We’ve bypassed dishes and are digging into our dessert together with spoons as we talk.

“You made this?” I ask her.

“Of course I did. I made it for you. I half-ass my fences, not apologies. Or baking.”

She makes me laugh.

“You don’t have anything to apologize for.”

She smiles shyly and bows her head, eyeing me through those beautiful brown lashes of hers. “Now you’re being too nice.”

As the banter continues, I watch her eating the cobbler and ice cream. Her tongue darts out to lick the creamy white stuff off the back of her spoon, and she has no idea how much I am into this. My cock, in particular, has enjoyed watching her eat food all evening, and now he is fully tenting my jeans.

This boner situation is becoming an urgent matter, but I’ve waited this long…

She cocks her head and says thoughtfully, “You know, I was thinking about what you said. Why it’s so weird for a man to be a virgin and not a woman. I honestly don’t know.”

“I’ve thought about it too. And about why I don’t share that information with anyone. I think it’s because women are supposed to be Red Riding Hood and men are supposed to be the wolves.”

She laughs. “Well now that you’ve sexualized Little Red Riding Hood, there’s no going back from that,” she says.

“Sorry, did I ruin your favorite story?”

“Hardly,” she replies. “That story scares the shit out of me. It always makes me think of MeMaw getting eaten by a monster. Of course she was a great shot with a rifle and could have protected herself, I guess.”

“Your MeMaw sounds real interesting. I’m sorry I never got to meet her. Although I’m glad I never got on her bad side. You must take after her.”

Molly nods and says, “I certainly hope so. I have a lot to live up to.”

My heart clenches, and I want so badly to build up her confidence.

“When we first met, I knew right away you were not a person to be trifled with. But now I see the real you. You are all that but also an intimidated little girl inside. And you don’t need to be. Sex shouldn’t be this monolith that scares you, and I’m sorry your upbringing did that to you. It’s simply human bodies…coming together…”

“Daniel, I’ve never even had an orgasm.”

I look at her and she’s looking down into her lap, like she’s regretting blurting that out.

“Don’t be embarrassed, sweetheart. But I do recommend you have one as soon as possible. It’ll change your life.”

“Show me.” Molly blinks up at me, her eyelashes batting as her eyes land on my eyes and then on my mouth.

“Are you sure you’re ready?”

“I was ready the first time I saw you, Daniel.”

My heart jackhammers in my chest. This is my woman. This is who I’ve been waiting for. Who I’d been holding out for.

I never had the requirement that she be a virgin, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t make my dick throb harder to know I’m the first. That she’s untouched, and that she’s about to be thoroughly devoured by me and no one else.

Almost like we were meant to meet each other.

We both drop our spoons as our mouths meet. That sweet mouth I’ve been thinking about all day—all week, when I’m not with her, to be honest—combined with the flavor of peaches and ice cream, rocks my world.

At first, I kiss her softly, reverently, the way she deserves to be kissed.

Tenderly, she threads her fingers through the hair on the back of my head, sending shivers everywhere.
