Mari’s mom and dad are staying to watch the girls while we're gone, and I love that her parents already regard my nieces as part of their family.
Life with Mari and the girls is great, though Mari and I had our first real fight a few weeks ago. She marched into my office at the house and demanded to know why I hadn't had her sign a prenup yet and then got offended when I laughed at her.
I told her I wouldn’t ask her to sign a prenup, and if I failed to make her happy, she deserved half of everything. I told her it was a deal breaker for me. She's not after my money, and we both know it.
She finally agreed, letting me know she wasn't happy about it. Right after that, I asked her about adopting the girls, and she burst into tears, saying she'd love nothing more so long as that's what the girls wanted, which of course, they did.
The paperwork went through a few weeks ago, and I officially adopted them. We have all of Mari's paperwork ready, and all we need is our marriage certificate.
Mari’s family has quickly become my family too. Her brothers have accepted me, although I think getting them VIP box seats for the Super Bowl helped. We've been planning a guy's weekend around it.
"You ready for our first dance, my husband?" Mari asks, pulling me from my thoughts.
We’ve only been married for a few hours, but she’s already calling me her husband every chance she gets.
"I would be honored to spin you around the dance floor, my wife." I take her hand and lead her onto the center of the floor as the music starts playing. I couldn't tell you what the song is because all I see is her. I hold her in my arms, and life couldn’t be more perfect.
"Do you want more kids someday?" Mari asks shyly.
"Yes, I want kids with you. I can't wait to see you pregnant and holding our little ones. I hope we have a little girl who looks like you, and I'd like a boy to even the numbers a bit." I grin, and that makes her laugh. "But I'll leave the number of kids up to you. You're the one who has to carry and give birth to them. If you want ten more kids, I'll be beyond ecstatic. If you only want one, I'm good with that too."
"I think we'll play it by ear." She smiles up at me.
"Sounds good to me. I can't wait to see where life leads us."
