“Here we are.” Rodrigo stopped walking. To my surprise, we were in front of the boarding house.
My heart sank. If only the walk could have lasted forever.
We climbed the steps and stood under the small porch, where Rodrigo lowered his umbrella. “It was good to meet you.”
“It was.” I tried not to pout. “Thank you for walking me here. I really appreciate it.”
He smiled the slightest bit, and his dimples deepened. Butterflies exploded in my chest.
“Will you have dinner with me tomorrow night?”
My jaw dropped. Actually dropped.
I wasn’t used to guys being so direct. Usually, they asked me to “hang out,” or made a move on me while out at a party or club. And, usually, I declined any advances.
But Rodrigo was asking me out on a proper date. Out of everything he’d done tonight, this made me respect him the most.
“I would love to.” I smiled wide.
“Wonderful. Eight o’clock? I will pick you up.”
“I’ll see you then.”
Right then, I heard a shriek from inside. Apparently, the leaky pipe still wasn’t under control.
“I should go.” I opened the door and waved. “Bye.”
“Wait!”
Halfway inside, I turned around. “Yes?”
“I didn’t get your name.”
“It’s Georgia.”
“Georgia.” He said it slowly, savoring it like candy. “Good night, Georgia.”
“Good night, Rodrigo.” With that, I floated inside on a cloud.
CHAPTER2
GEORGIA
“Ican’t believe you’re having dinner with Rodrigo.TheRodrigo.”
In the middle of putting on earrings, I looked at Juliana in the mirror. “What does that mean?”
She sat on the edge of my bed. “He’s famous at school.”
“For what?”
“For being handsome and rich. What more is important?”
She waggled her eyebrows, and I laughed, glad to see she was kidding.
“He’s nice.” Stepping back, I inspected myself in the mirror. After two years of growing out my wavy blond hair, it nearly reached my elbows.
“Just nice?” Juliana asked.
