“I’m sorry you feel that way, Squid Kid,” Lizzy says.
I look through the fast-moving chat to find what Squid Kid has said.
Squid_Kid: You’re a hack. Like how old are you anyway?
“You know what, Squid Kid? I beat you fair and square. I’ve been playing for years. I don’t have to cheat,” Lizzy says.
Squid_Kid: You think you’re hot shit for beating a sixteen-year-old?
She snorts but doesn’t reply again. She doesn’t have to. I can see the frustration written all over her face. The kid keeps going anyway.
Squid_Kid: How does it feel to live in your daddy’s basement while you bullshit the world into thinking you’re really good at this?
Squid_Kid: I bet your fat ass is single. That’s why you come on here all the time.
Squid_Kid: Look at you. Who would want you? You couldn’t pay for a date. Go get a life you old hag.
That’s it. I’ve had enough. I stand and slam the top of my laptop shut. Before I can think about what I’m about to do, I’m moving. I jog down the stairs from the rooftop and push through the door to the second level. I don’t even take a pause.
Determined, I jog down to the first floor, where Lizzy’s gaming room is. I don’t knock. Instead, I enter and walk right in. I don’t think about the fact that I’m shirtless and only in a pair of sweatpants.
I pad barefoot up behind her and make sure I’m in the view of the camera. I reach beneath her braids and cup the back of her neck to tilt her face up toward me. I wrap my other hand around her neck and dip my head to take her lips.
I kiss the shit out of her. I mean, I own her mouth. However, I’m not expecting the punch to the gut. I deepen the kiss as I’m drawn into her essence. She tastes so fucking good. I groan and move my hand on the back of her neck into her hair.
She whimpers in my mouth, and I remember what I came in here to do. I pull away slowly and kiss the tip of her nose than her forehead. Looking into her eyes, I’m sure the fire I see there matches my own.
“I’ll be waiting when you’re done, baby. Don’t keep me waiting.” I peck her lips once more because I can’t help myself.
She stares after me as I back away. I turn because I’m sure everyone can see how hard I am. I exit the room, hoping she knows I mean it when I say I’ll be waiting. While I did only intend to prove she’s desired and not single…fuck.
Gio is right. I’ve known what I’ve wanted all along. Lizzy is mine. She has been since I moved her into my home. After that kiss, there’s no way I’m not going to claim my woman.
I can’t even remember why I’ve been telling myself not to. Nothing makes sense without her as mine. Damn, I need to sober up.
Chapter 33
Just for You
Lizzy
“Hey, Lizzy. No Bella today?” Peter says awkwardly as he passes by my desk.
I try not to frown at him. I don’t like this guy. However, he’s never done anything wrong to me, so I try to be nice.
“No, not today,” I reply.
“Cool, cool, you planning on creating some new content this week? I have my notifications set for when you go live.”
“Well, then if I do decide to, you’ll get a notification, won’t you?”
I plaster on a fake smile. This guy is totally ruining my daydreaming. I turn to my computer and act like I’ve found something to do. I’ve been finished with my work tasks for hours now. Other than getting the conference room set up. I look at the clock, I still have some time.
“Okay, um. I just wanted to stop by and say hi. It’s so cool that I work at the same place as such a huge influencer. You’re so dope.” I turn back to him, and he looks like a scared rabbit.
“Listen, I don’t bring my gaming into my work life. I get it. I think I’d be the same way if, like my favorite author, worked here, but for me, they’re two different worlds. This is my work.”
He blanches, then swallows hard. “Um, okay. Um, well, let me know if you need anything or, like, ever want to hang out. We can talk about normal shit. No gossip and no gaming, right?”
I give him a more genuine smile. “Maybe.”
He scurries away, looking back over his shoulder at me as he goes. Now I get why Ny won’t cam up. I can’t blame her.
Peter forgotten, I get lost in my thoughts. I sit at my desk with my fingers touching my lips. It’s two days later and that kiss still has my lips tingling. My face heats as I think of how my fans reacted in the chat.
