It takes a second ring before I hear someone moving around inside. A figure appears behind the barrier. I pull my Glock from the holster at my back.
As soon as he opens the door, I push my way inside. Swiftly, I grab this motherfucker by the face and shove my gun into his mouth. I look him over and snort. Some lanky motherfucker with shaggy brown hair and glasses.
“Why the fuck have you been following my assistant and my daughter?” I shout into his face.
My rage pulses through me as I look into his eyes. My nostrils flare and my chest heaves. He tries to speak around the gun. I pull it back and shove it against his temple.
“I…I…I’m a huge fan. I just wanted to get a look at Izzy in person. Someone doxed her on the boards. It was taken down, but not before I took a screenshot. I meant no harm, I wanted to see where she works. I don’t know anything about the little girl. I thought Izzy had a kid or something. I took a few pics to dig up more information. They would go crazy for that shit on the boards.”
“You took pictures. Where are they?”
“On my phone.”
“Where’s your phone?”
He pulls the phone out with trembling hands. I’m tempted to put a bullet in his head.
“Unlock it,” I snarl. I snatch the phone and find the pictures. “Have you uploaded these anywhere?”
“No, not yet.”
“If you’re lying to me. I’ll come back and blow your brains out all over this place. Stay the fuck away from them.”
To drive my point home, I crack him in the head with the butt of the gun. He falls to the floor, knocked out cold. I delete the photos and toss his phone on top of him.
“I want guys on Lizzy, no matter what. Even if she’s not with Bella. That channel is a fucking problem.”
I’ve seen the threats and the crazy way they talk to her in the chat. I’ve wanted to hunt them down and put a bullet in all their heads. However, it dawned on me some of her fans are a bunch of silly kids.
Although, doxing her is an issue. That puts Bella in danger. I don’t like it.
Who the fuck would do some shit like that?
Chapter 28
We Need to Talk
Lizzy
I found the necklace without an issue. While Bella changed, I went to my room and activated the tracker that was placed inside the bear. I’ll have to have the chain fixed. It looks like the clasp was caught on something and broke.
After her lessons, we spent the rest of the day in my gaming room. Bella was so excited to get a look around. We did some online shopping. She’s probably the only kid in the world who could have anything but decides to ask for books.
I purchased her a ton of books, happy to see a smile on her little face. However, I haven’t been able to shake the feeling that something very wrong happened today.
I called the office to see if I could assist Dante remotely, only to be told he never came into the office. I’ve been a bit concerned all day.
“We need to talk.”
I look up from the book I’m reading as I sit in the kitchen. Dante looks tired and there’s something in his eyes as he looks at me. I shrug it off and stand.
“Have you eaten? The chef left a plate for you. I can heat it up,” I offer.
He waves me off. “I can take care of that. Is Bella sleeping?”
“Yes, she tried to stay up and wait for you.”
“Did she find her necklace?”
“I found it.”
“Good. Listen, it’s come to my attention that someone was following you a few weeks back. It seems he was a fan or something.”
“Are you serious?” I bite out.
He nods. “Someone doxed you on some boards or something.”
Rage fills me. A lot of crazy shit happens in the gaming industry, especially to female gamers. However, doxing is the worst thing you can do. You’re placing the person in danger by revealing their true identity and personal information.
“Dante, I’m so sorry. I had no idea. I would never want to place Bella in danger. I’ll resign if you want.”
He holds up his hand. “Hold on. Slow down. I knew you had a public thing going on with your channel before promoting you. I’m telling you this, so you know why I’m increasing your personal security.”
“Personal security?” I almost scoff. “I don’t need personal security. Technically, I’m only your assistant.”
He closes the distance between us and swivels the barstool I’m seated on to face him. Dante steps between my legs and places one hand on the back of the stool and the other on the countertop as he looks down at me.
His gaze is so intense as he looks into my eyes with his hazel ones. I fidget from the waves of energy coming off him as he searches my face.
