“Fine.”
Duncan turned them around and found the girls sitting on loungers outside by the pool. “You tell them,” he said and nudged Angelica.
“Hey, guys, Duncan and I have some news.”
The woman turned toward them.
“We’re getting married,” Angelica said.
The woman screamed, stood up, and raced toward her.
“This is so awesome,” Faith said.
“I’m so excited for you,” Beth said. “I’ll do whatever youneed.”
“I will need a lot of help since it’s in two days,” Angelica said. “I would like the three of you to stand up with me.”
“Are you sure you want me up there?” Beth said. “I promise you don’t have to ask me. I can stay in the background and help.”
Duncan studied Beth’s face, and although she seemed happy for them, there was a shadow that she tried to hide.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like you to stand up with me.”
Beth smiled and hugged her. “Then I’d be thrilled to.”
“Hopefully, we’ll be planning your wedding soon,” Hope said to Beth.
Beth laughed. “No. I’m happy with the way things are. I have a man who cares for me and women I get to spend my days with. I can’t ask for more than that.”
Duncan frowned but kept quiet. He’d talk to Alastair later.
“Let’s go tell your mother, Angel.”
“We’ll stay here and make a list,” Faith said.
“We’ll be back,” Duncan said, pulling Angelica out of the house. He caught sight of one of the guards.
“Derek, where is Jamison?”
“He’s in the back. I’ll call him up here.”
“Thank you.”
Duncan pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly while they waited for the driver.
It wasn’t two minutes before Jamison pulled up, got out, and rushed to open the door. “I’m sorry you had to wait, sir,” Jamison said.
“We didn’t. Besides, it was my fault for not calling you sooner.”
Duncan pulled her against his side as they drove to her mother’s house.
“You are happy about this, right?” he asked.
She snorted. “It’s a little bit late to ask me that, isn’t it?”
He grinned. “Maybe. I just don’t want to give you the chance to say no.”
She tucked her head against his shoulder. “I won’t say no.”
